Will get out and fit it tonight / compare.

Like the front brake pads it has somehow done 32k without replacement!

The cars been a bit lumpy in the acceleration recently and a bit bizarre at cold start, so having checked all the pipes for leaks and having found nowt (esp. since I've got the Forge end cap for the inlet manifold instead of the BSH catch can cover which was pap).

Only other thing I can check is the new plugs. Maybe the colder plugs don't like this cold weather so I should look at putting the hotter ones in over Xmas / winter?

Two weeks ago I insulated the garage door with foil backed insulation, then put draught seals round the door so am hoping it may be manageable without arctic clothing on!

UPDATE

Went to Storm Developments in Aldermaston to get them to change the cam lobe for me.

Initial inspections found the cam lobe to be in pretty good nick. Outer face which contacts with the inlet camshaft was in good condition as it has done the full 33k miles (10k of which has sen the car running Stg 2 + with HP internals).



We then had a look at the inside, and there were fairly pronounced markings inside the cam lobe where the HPFP makes contact.



To be honest it's not terrible, and didn't look as it was likely to break through anytime soon, however it would lead you to believe the HPFP is creating more erosion on the cam lobe.

More interestingly (for me), I had them do some quick checks when they were there to make sure all was well, and they checked the spark plugs. The literally new NGK BKR7EIX Iridiums were looking VERY pink around the electrode which they were concerned about considering they have done 2-3k of very easy mileage. Admittedly I hadn't torqued the plugs up to the recommended 26(??) on the wrench (opting for hand tight + 1/2 turn for safety), but they have recommended trying the 8's for a short while then checking them again in 2-3k as they are concerned the high boost levels are still causing the plugs to suffer. I'll feedback in the new year as to the effects of this.

interesting about the plugs i have had mine in for prob 8k now and havnt checked how there doing, maybe your running a tad lean on fuel which is causing them to overheat.

i think i may get mine checked now just incase although mines always run a bit rich which might make things a bit cooler, although i may be barking up the wrong tree aswell lol.

anyone have links to where i can get a set of these iridium spark plugs. and what set is best, i here things about some sets being a colder setting than others???7's and 8's etc

have just changed mine, small amount of wear in top but nothing showing on cam, i still think better o be safe then sorry, it was VERT easy people.

My 07 cupra is out of warranty next month and I was wondering if wear to the follower could cause the 'rough' sounding engine on tick-over that a lot of people have mentioned on here, the cars done 40,000 now and having owned it only from 36k I have no idea if this has been changed, maybe best to just change it?

Mine has done 60k (07) no rough sounds and never have changed the bucket on the cam in the pump, running SC BF and all appears to be well.
Having said that, the wear on on the bucket will probably be gruesome...........Hey ho!

I will be picking up my K1 on 1st of May. It's currently having Tyres replaced and a scratch in the glass. It's a 58 plate so still under warranty. Is it worth me getting them to double check while it's in?

they wont check it foc, or they will tell you that they did but really havent.

Check it yourself when you get it home mate, takes 15 mins, stealers seem to think it takes 2 hours however

Hahahaha I'll giv ya a shout wen I pick it up. Am fairly confident with engines etc always used to solve my own problems with my cars. This is my 1st new new though car lol am always a bit more careful with these newer engines. Too many sensors and electrics etc so will need some advice
