Well my Cupra has actually , i used to get about 340 - 360 miles from a full tank , now im getting 240 if i am lucky , my journeys have not changed and my right foot is not as heavy as it used to be.
When i left work the other day my average fuel consumption was 4 mpg slowly rising to 8 mpg !

what can cause bad fuel consumption?
car is due its 20 k service in around 800 miles.

its stage 1 at the mo.

Does seem excessive. Probably best for dealer to have a look, watch they don't flash your ECU and wipe your map off as they have just done to me [:@]

I've just had a full turbo back Milltek fitted and HPFP and the fuel consumption is better, i was getting just shy of 35mpg on the motorway coming home compared to just over 30 on the way there - weird.

Hi Robdf2

I’m having the same issue as you, I used to get lots more miles out of tank before, but my car is due a services soon so I think a service should help the figures get back to where they used to be. :)

could it be an exhaust sensor?? Doubtful on such a new car but always a probable cause of a drop in fuel consumption

The car is running factory map (so i think) due to dealer flashing ECU. When i had the exhaust fitted and green panel filter the car instantly felt a lot more responsive and pulled harder. The noise is nice, its non resonated and is a lot quieter than i thought. On tickover it sounds factory spec. I posted a thread about it earlier today, only gripe i've got with it is the tailtrim is too short!!

Stage 2+ is getting loaded on tomorrow which i'm looking forward to.

Gutted they wipped your map. I always leave a large post it on the screen "DO NOT WASH OR FLASH ECU" just incase even tho i tell them as well.

I noticed better mpg after fitting the Milltek.

Ye the car felt instantly different when driving home, it just wasn't as responsive and torquey and didn't pull as hard.

When i got the Milltek, pump and green panel filter done the car perked up somewhat as i'd guess 15-20bhp from these hardware bits.

I've had stage 2+ loaded on (or so i think) today and it feels like stage 1 did when i first had that done but a little stronger (exhaust). I'm all confused now, got pretty aggressive settings on too

I've spoken to Revo this morning to see of they can see if i've got the right file on the car. I've not had much look with this car tuning lark....

But you dont have an intercooler or a proper intake on. Stage 2+ is designed around those parts as well as the fuel pump and exhaust.

Jeez, Stage 1 with a filter and HP fuel pump on my car felt noticeably slower than stage 2 with pump.

When I got the pump from JBS and rolled down the M1 I thought, it doesn't really feel much different. If anything it felt a bit out of sorts. An hour in Daventry with Carl and all was well. Revo 2 map really makes good use of the pump, so I'm surprised by your comments.

I wasn't expecting much difference with stage 2, and it's one of the few mods that has really surprised me pleasantly on this car. If it feels like stage 1 did then something has to be wrong. Where did you get stage 2 set up?

Even without intercooler and intake i would still expect a much stronger midrange over the stage 1 map and with fuel set to 6 it should hold boost better anyway. Also a peak figure of 330 - 340bhp could be expected with the hardware mods. Currently got settings at B8 T5 F6.

I had the map done at The Racing Line in Halifax, West Yorkshire. There service was s*it to be honest, i wasn't even acknowledged when i got there and after waiting around for 20 mins i was ready to walk away. The place i got stage 1 at aren't open at the moment so had to try this place.

I'd rather spend a couple of hours on the motorway and go to Revo HQ - for my own piece of mind!

Should i log boost requests in Vagcom???
