RNS-E 7 digit postcodes

Hi guys.

My biggest bugbear about the rns-e was the lack of 7 digit postcodes but have found a website that will supply 2015 maps with 7 digit postcodes and an upgrade on my firmware from SW200 (audisatnav.co.uk) for around £30.

Has anybody else had any experience of this upgrade?

Not I but this is good news indeed. I'll be watching and waiting and if all's I'll get mine done... Good price too

Ordered!! I'll report back as soon as it's arrived and I've had a chance to rest it.

This was the email response I got back from them earlier:

Good morning.
Could you please let me know if the above named update could be compatible with the RNS-E sat nav that I have in my 2011 Seat Exeo?
I am hoping to get the 7 digit postcode option available in the car.
You mentioned in the description that a firmware below 220 can get an upgrade. I believe my states sw200.
Many thanks,

Hallo,
Yes it will as it is exactly the same system as Audi.
Just leave a note at checkout that you require firmware update as yours should be SW:0220.
The fw is supplied free if required and requested.

ive recently stated using my nav a lot more and have now found why the lack of a full digit postcode input can be annoying. will be very interesting to see if this works.

btw how do I find out what firmware im running? mines a 2012 model but dealer has given me 2014 sat nav discs

Hi Gizmo.

Do you have the 2015 maps DVD? I'm no expert but I think that the firmware is a prerequisite to allow the new dvd disc to rum with the 7 digit postcode.

I'll be able to confirm if this works once it arrives.

Fingers crossed.

Oh. Well then I'm all out of ideas. I'll wait and see what happens when this arrives and report back. As it's an Audi product rather than Seat it may not be compatible after all.

To be honest I would be surprised if this update enables full post code support.

I had a quick scan on my old stomping ground (audi-sport.net) and i see no mention of any update enabling it. You would expect to see it plastered all over there if it was the case.

Status update... So far so good!!

Two discs arrived - both with audi branding but admittedly looked suspiciously non-genuine.

The first disc was the status update which promptly went about its business filling up the progress bar on screen.

Once completed I switched in the new 2015 maps disc which loaded as quick as my original Seat one.

Put in my 7 digit postcode and it recognised it, got the street name correct and directed me brilliantly. It even has static speed cameras loaded in.

I've got a few more journeys this weekend to test it with but got to admit that it has been successful so far. My only possible concern is that when I now look at my firmware it says Sw:X as apposed to 200 or 220 but all functions of the stereo unit appear unaffected at present.

That's good news. I away but I'm very tempted to order them now... If they have any left after the above "promo"

Yep. Think I should demand a cut of any future sales to seat owners ( unless it fails miserably on me next week.

Hi

Like others I was a bit dubious about this but thought I'd give it a try as my car already had the latest firmware. 2015 disc arrived yesterday and it does seem to give you the full 7 digit postcode. No problems with loading the disc and it doesn't seem to take any longer than the genuine discs that came with the car.

Going up to Inverness with a couple of stops on Friday so I'll give it more of a try on the journey

Many thanks to Mikkijdb

This will be fantastic if it works, have just ordered mine so will wait and see.

Dumb question but my firmware is sw0200 hence ive asked for the latest version, am i correct in assuming that this firmware is the media systems firmware and not the 'cars' hence if it does screw up it will just be the media system that goes wrong and not the car?! Anyone else had experience of changing the firmware?

Newcastle...ish
I changed firmware on mine today, no probs. Takes about 5 mins to load and all works fine

Can you get POI to alert when your coming up to them with sound (Speed camera) or just shows on the screen
