Probably wouldn't have noticed this if I wasn't playing around trying to fix the common "Seat logo handle doesn't spring back again" issue - which I fixed in seconds with just WD40 - but noticed that the boot can be opened with no issue even when the car is meant to be locked!
So to clarify - the boot closes fine and stays closed. It opens fine with a nice sounding correct noise when I pull the handle or press the button on the remote. However it does not lock, I can lock the car and the boot can be opened with the handle as if the car were unlocked.
Have looked around the an answer on these forums and this appears to be a less common problem at least with the newer cars. Most complaints are that the boot won't shut properly, or won't open properly.
This is the lock that's in my car, confirmed via the part number printed on it: https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/esen-skv-18556691.html
