3rd Brake Light

One of the little lights have failed on my 2 month old MK5 Ibiza, Any ideas on how to change it?

(its one of the lights in the top brake light above the boot)

Book says take it into dealers to change it, but rather not pay them £50 to change a bulb!

shouldn't they do it under warranty? you would reasonably expec that a brake light would last longer than 2 months.

Take it back to the dealer, standard bulbs are NOT covered, but LED Brake Light bulbs ARE.

The LED will probably not have actually failed. The high level brake light has a strip of LED's soldered onto a small circuit board. I would suggest that the vibration from shutting the boot has caused a poor solder joint on one of the LED's to fail.

A soldering iron and a bit of skill will fix this but the dealers will probably not have a soldering iron so will just replace the part and throw the old one away.

Yep, if there's a flaw in the PCB then i'd get it changed rather than try to solder it
