500 miles on the clock, is my car a lemon?

So I picked up my car on Friday and I love it, but I've got a long list of issues that I need my dealer to fix, is this normal? Or is my car a bit of a lemon?

I've had quite a few issues with the ACC where it seems to be allergic to overtaking cars, but only sometimes, it'll be crusing along fine but if I pass a car going 60 for example the car will brake, sometimes quite harshly and speed match them as if they are in my lane, this fixes itself if I turn the car off and on or sometimes it goes away by itself, I've also had an "ACC Error" where it has refused to work at all until restarting the car, I've had a similar issue with lane assist where it gave me an error and didn't work until restarting the car.
I had ACC on my old car and it was extremely reliable and never had any issues with it so I'm certain something isn't right.

The speed sign recognition seems quite buggy and will randomly decide the speed limit on a dual carriageway is 110 mph, at first I thought I must of passed a lorry with "110 km/h max speed" on the back of it, but then I realized it was doing it on a very quiet road even after not passing anyone for a while.

Blind spot monitoring isn't working at all and I can't find a toggle for it and I can't seem to find the option for drive mode selection within the infortainment, I've watched a few videos on it and my car seems to be missing the menu which contains drive mode selection

Android Auto is extremely laggy sometimes but is often fine, however it does have times where it'll lock up completely and I'll need to restart the infotainment for it to work again, and sometimes the entire screen rapidly strobes and flickers, this is the same both wirelessly and wired. (Phone is the Oppo Find X2 Pro on Android 11)

Finally the passenger side A pillar trim doesn't seem to be installed properly as it seems to be coming away from the car slightly

Does anybody have any tips for any of these issues? Are other people having these issues? Or is it perfectly normal to have a bit of teething issues after picking up a new car?

Many thanks

I've had some of the same issues as you with the ACC and TSR. The car went in for some updates which has seemed to fix them.

I had the overtaking issue, it's a feature of the car to stop undertaking the problem is the car thinks it's driving on the other side of the road in Europe. I also had a similar traffic sign issue, where the car was reading the signs as kmh and then converting them into mph, so driving past a 50mph sign was setting the predictive ACC and TSR to 31mph. I actually experienced both issues in the same journey so I think it's more likely the car was unsure which side of the road it is driving on.

On the price list it does only say drive profile selection is only available on the FR trims

I had a few issues when first getting the car in fact some of them are still ongoing (whistle sound from passenger side mirror), or reoccurring (passenger side sun visor courtesy light staying on)

But lately I've been having a issue with the ACC where it would be slowing down for a junction and the show a message saying predictive is unavailable and start accelerating up to speed again

There are many reports of software bugs; if you have a read through the forum you'll find all the common issues. One of the joys of being a Beta tester for the systems in the MK 4  However, you certainly shouldn't have bits of trim falling off!

I had the same issue with acc doing the same breaking. My car was in at the dealers and had the control modules updated. Haven’t had a chance to test it since had an accident that has had me off the road for a few weeks.

That's really unfortunate, I just picked my car back up an hour ago getting the same updates done, haven't taken it for a long drive yet but the car seems to be working much better and Android auto is no longer unusable for the first 2 minutes which is a vast improvement

To add an update to this issue is still there after a second time in the garage. Seat Ireland have acknowledged it and said there may or may not be an update in the next 6 months. Exactly what ya want to hear.

Not just Seat Leon, even the new Audi A3s have a long list of issues that at present the dealers don't have a fix for yet.

Mk8 Golf too. VW have produced some software updates to fix some of these issues, but based on forum member feedback on VW forums, those updates don’t always work. Presumably Skoda’s Octavia is also similarly affected and the new wave of VAG all-electric cars (I’ve read that VW’s ID.3 has had software issues).

Not sure I’d want to place an order for a facelift version of the Ibiza or VW’s Polo either - both of which are to get similar tech to the Leon / A3 / Golf / Octavia, so may well be plagued with the same or similar software gremlins 🤔.

The initial Altea had that, it was fixed by a foam / plastic implant you could put in the door taking out the mirror. Seat were keen not to tell of the fix at the time. It was the aerodynamics inside the door, foam in place stopped it. May be similar. They then went onto to fit the foam in the door in later production.
