Hi all!

In a couple of weeks, I will be picking up my Cupra formentor VZ5. Now I was looking at some tuning like a simple air intake + elbow. But I could only find an eventuri for the price of a kidney...
Some websites state that the parts from the RSQ3/RS3/TTRS are all the same.. Would some one be able to confirm this?

in a word, no.

The 5 cylinder engine comes in to two basic forms - EA855 and EA855 EVO. EA855 was the original, cast iron block - typical power outputs ranged from around 310PS up to roughly 360PS, Your Formentor probably has the EVO version with the aluminium block and doesn't have cylinder bore liners making around 400PS, there a many differences between the early and later engines - as an example the turbo spins in the opposite direction on the EVO.

One thing is for sure though and that's reliability, whilst the original EA855 was strong and massively tuneable, relatively easily into 700PS+ territory the EVO engine seems to be prone to failure, especially in the cylinder head area - the roller cam followers fail for example (a problem shared with the 2.9 V6 RS and Porsche engine).

In 2022 I had an RSQ3 (DNWA engine) fail, replaced under warranty eventually, cost was almost half the value of the vehicle. Seeking out RE Performance on Youtube would be worth your effort as they have tuned an RSQ3 engine - and had it fail most likely because the owner didn't run 99 octane fuel in it.

Don't mess with it.

From memory the tricky bit is the intake component that attaches to the slam panel because that's vehicle specific. Eventuri are the cold standard for sure, some of the cheaper alternatives don't provide the smooth airflow you'd desire - take a look at Revo: Revo Performance Shop
