Hi Everyone,
Its been a long time since I've posted on these forums and I'm hoping that someone can help or offer some insight.
A few years ago I bought a Leon FR Supercopa and I noticed that the headlights seemed dirty. It was summertime so I didn't do much night-time driving but as the winter set in I really needed those headlights. I'd just come from a Nissan 350Z with Bi-Xenons and I thought to myself "These seem a little shitty" but I didn't expect them to be as good as the Zed but I was a little disappointed.
So I started by checking the headlights to see if I could do anything to improve the beam, most of the cars that overtake me light up far more of the road than I do so maybe they are filthy or they need restoring.
After cleaning the headlights I realised they were dirty on the inside of the lenses and since that time they've got worse and worse. As far as I can tell there are no airgaps, all of the headlight caps are on securely and clamped down and yet they've definitely got worse over the years.
Now....
How good are the standard Bi-Xenon headlights? Should they really be carving through the darkness similar to the previous 350z I had?
Are there any upgrades I could be looking at to improve overall output? Is there anyway to clean the inside of the headlights?
Has anyone purchased third party headlight units? How do they compare to the standard lights?
Are the standard ones generally accepted as shitty in overall output?
I purchased a 2017 Seat Ibiza for my partner and it has standard halogen headlights and the output is clearly better than mine, especially on high beams.
Mine on high light up higher as expected but the output seems still... crap
Any input or advice/experience is appreciated
