Just had my 52 plate LC serviced at Nationwide Autocentres - they tell me the front brake pads are 75% worn and the rears 80%. They want £90 to replace the fronts and £75 to do the rears - is that a bit excessive?

The dearest I've found on the net is £60 and £40, not including labour obviously.

Also £25 for a new pollen filter:(

Take the opportunity to upgrade them with some Ferrodo DS2500 pads from Bill at Badger5.

The LC pads are very thick and quite expensive as a result (around 50% thicker than LCR pads) but if you can spare the extra cash you'll notice the extra performance with the Ferrodo's.

I bought a set of Mintex Extreme pads for mine on fleebay. Work a treat and braking is fine, mind you I dont drive like a d1ck. Driving style does need to be considered. I got my mate who is a mechanic to fit mine. Total cost of brakes fitted and supplied.. £70. Those National guys probarbly quoted for counterfit crap brakes too.

Spend the cash to get better ones whoever fits them,
Any mechanic can do them without charging throught the roof, one of the easy jobs to do!
Hardest bit is porb getting the wheels lined up agian to put the bolts through!
