Buttons collapsed in centre console

I found the buttons for the ESP and tyre pressure reset had collapsed. How can I reset these and why might this happen?

Use a plastic spudger to take out the panel housing those switches it lifts at the front I think and pulls forward. Then you can push the switch back in and examine the plastic clips that should hold it in for damage
