My DMF has just gone on my mk2 leon leon pd140 :censored: I am wondering what flywheel I could put into it to get rid of the stupid DMF eg. G60 flywheel etc.because i havnt got the money to spend on a Sachs conversion. Also I know that when they fitted the flywheels and clutches they were either Sachs or LUK so if i was changing the flywheel and the clutch complete would it matter? I just need confirmation so i can get the parts ordered and get the Leon back on the road Asap!!

Help appreciated

Cheers Dave

hi ,right i think you could use the g60/1z flywheel with vr6 clutch but dont quote me on that. i know its been used on plenty of mk4 golfs and bora TDIs state side but there is draw backs to it and i am not a 100% sure if it does fit any of the mk5 golf based tdi units. i know there is a good chance that you get clutch chatter and vibration feedback from using SMF. a DMF absorbs the power pulses that the tdi motor makes, the SMF transmits the pulses directly into the transmission loading and unloading the input shaft in the transmission. Life with a SMF on a TDI means living with a neutral rattle.
i think devonmikeyboy has a smf on his audi (sorry if i am wrong, pretty sure i read it in a mag a while since) he would be the man to ask.but i think its an american kit and its quite expensive
And the sachs dmf kit is a straight swap with the luk item and it seems to take more torque than the luk to. i used to work for gsf and vw for a while and the sachs item was always a better dmf replacement and i never had any faulty units returned whereas we had a coupl of luks go faulty. i also need a clutch soon so its either sell a kidney or the sister............

there is a fella in newry who takes the fly wheels out and converst it to solid, had it done to a 407 and its an excellent job. search google for exact engineering newry. cost for the pug was 650 and that included a new clutch and the work that was done.
