Hi guys, i'm finding that if i have my turn signal or parking lights on and remove the key from the ignition the car beeps at me, but with the full night lights on, i remove the key from the ignition and there is no warning what so ever, only noticed it after leaveing the lights on a couple of times for a few hours....glad the battery didn't die, any solutions to making it beep at you so i don't damage my battery?
thanks
Shalil

The reason the beep doesn't sound when the full headlights are left on is the "coming home" function, the idea being that you can leave the headlights on so that you can open the garage or front door and then after a short time they will turn themselves off automatically protecting your battery. Hence the warning sounds for all other lights but not the headlights.

so how do you do this (suppose i should rtfm!) ?

cheers

Open the ignition switch and keep pressed for at least 2 seconds the dual side switch on the right (whippers side)

Choose the coming home option from the display and then press the reset switch on the same side to select the desired option.

I didnt do it yet, but thats what the manual says...

Coming home feature is standard, the bluetooth just allows you to adjust it.

Mine only beeps when the indicator stalk is either to the left or right. With full lights on it doesn't beep.

I don't have bluetooth but have auto lights on, but don't think that makes a difference to the coming home feature.

Thanks I'll have to check and see if they turn turn themselves off after I lock it then.

It normally takes a while for the light to turn themselves off, maybe 30 secs or so.

People keep saying to me that I've left my lights on as I just walk away from the car and lock it, leaving the lights to sort themselves out.

If you have either of your indicators on when you remove the key from the ignition (and I think you have to have had your headlights or sidelights on, but not sure about that....

Mine beeps at me, it's telling me that the near/offside parking light (a single sidelight bulb and corresponding tail light) is on, depending on which indicator is on.

When Convenience pack is fitted you not only get the "coming home" feature you also get the lights coming on when you unlock the car in the dark, providing you have left them in the Auto position. Having the enhanced dash display as part of the Bluetooth package also means you can adjust other functions such as single or joint mirror adjustment, single or all door unlocking, length of coming home illumination etc etc, not bad for £250, almost seems like madness not to have it as I'll always give that much extra in part-ex for cars that have Bluetooth.

Most VAG cars have had the the parking light provision via the indicator stalk since the year dot.

When I read the questions people have about some of the features their cars have it seems to be the general rule that the salesman hasn't given them a comprehensive hand-over when they've collected their car, insist that he does, he's earning commission from you.

If for whatever reason you want to overide the lights being left on when you lock the car you need to press the Unlock button first, then the Lock button. The lights won't staty on...

No offence to the few good dealers/salesmen out there but in my experience handover is very poor and to be honest, a lot of them don't have a clue about the cars they're selling.

My salesman was unaware of the model year change and wouldn't know what half the features on the car are anyway. The whole buying experience was pretty awful in fact.

The only way I know about half the clever feaures of my car is from on here, didn't even know I had headlamp washers until somebody pointed out that it would have them by law.

Thats why the internet dealers and the big PLC's with the silly discounts aren't always the best bet, they're happy to take your money and kiss your butt during period you're doing the deal and waiting for your car to arrive, funny how they disappear double quick once they've had your money, they'll probably be on the phone trying to sell you a Ford next year!

Another useful feature whilst on the subject of locking etc; If you need to leave a pet or child (for example when going in to pay for fuel) in the car and you don't want to leave it unlocked,
press the lock button on the key twice and it will lock the doors but dis-arm the interior motion sensors.

The turnover of salesmen seems very high nowadays. Think I must of bought my previous car off a ghost... Nobody in the Toyota dealership admitted to a guy with that name ever working there...

The experiance of buying my Cupra was that bad, I'm now thinking why not just use internet companies or the likes of Motorpoint. The car was apparently delayed by at least 4 weeks and only after I got SEAT to intervene did they source me another one.

That wasn't a large dealership either, just one in the local area with 4 or 5 dealerships of different makes.

The car wasn't even that clean when I bought it, I think the problem was they took no care whatsoever in applying the lifeshine.

Salesmen and dealerships don't seem to grasp the idea that if you buy a car and get good sales and aftersales service then you will go back and buy a new car from them every few years and recommend your friends. Otherwise you will just go elsewhere.
