Engine Oil in Air Intake.

Has anybody had or aware of an issue I have with my VZ2? When re filling the washer bottle I noticed there was oil coming from the junction of the air intake pipe where it connects to the air box. On further investigation i found the inside of the air intake pipe wet with oil, so much so there was oil on top of the air filter element and part of the element saturated in oil. I reported this to SEAT and after 5 weeks back and forth SEAT have confirmed there isn’t an issue and closed the case.

I presume this isn’t normal?

Any comments would be gratefully received.

Thanks👍

If it were my engine, without reassurance I would be understandably disconcerted.

Which engine do you have?

😳 mine was oil free when I changed the air filter for a K&N.

What did SEAT say?
I took it in, showed them some photographs I had taken and they said to leave it with them. When I went to collect they said they had done a diagnostic and checked the engine breather system and nothing seemed to be wrong. They sent photo’s and report to SEAT UK technical dept to see if they could advise and they would call me back. I didn’t here anything for a week and had to call the dealership myself. They told me that technical wanted a video of the turbo turbine with technician trying wiggle the turbine with his finger and photos of some markings on the turbo casing where the turbine was located. There was some play evident on the turbine from the video the technician showed me. All this was sent to technical and again I didn’t here anything for a week and a half. I had to call again and was told there was no issue with the turbo so the case was being closed. I asked why the case was being closed without the cause of the oil in the intake not being identified. The dealership told me there was nothing else they could do without SEAT UK authorising them to do any work. I asked the technician at the dealership directly if he had ever seen this issue before on any SEAT or CUPRA cars and he said no. That’s where I currently stand at the moment.😩

Sounds like the turbo's on it's way out, but not reached the free play tolerance that SEAT use yet. Not what you want if it goes out of warranty before that happens, try ragging it a lot to see if it gets worse.
