Engine Stutter 2.0 TDI

I've just recently had car serviced - and new cambelt but am finding that under heavy acceleration the engine seems to stutter.

It's only noticeable at motorway speeds if I overtake quickly in 5th.. the rev counter seems to stutter and the car feels like its holding back - accelerating - holding back etc.

This happens between 75is and very illegal speeds, but once I hit 6th gear and the revs drop things smooth out.

Car is a 2.0TDI with DSG - has anyone else had anything similar happen? Searches seem to suggest a range of things from sensors to air leaking in somewhere or a MAF problem.

Vag com shows no errors.

It's back to the garage that serviced on Monday for a check, but anyone have any ideas?

Cheers

Mine did this as well, but it felt more like fuel wasnt getting thru, it showed problems with the fuel pump injectors on the faults computer, it was resolved by a new ecu. (under warranty).

RESOLVED:

Just to let you all know the problem seems to be resolved (or atleast it wasn't there on my spirited drive back from the garage yesterday evening.)

Apparantly during the service the fuel filter was replaced and this new part had developed a small leak and therefore let in air and not giving a consistent fuel flow/mixture when at high pressure (ie higher rev range)

Replaced filter and o-ring seal and problem seems to be resolved.

Sorry to bring back up an old thread of mine, but have just had the car serviced again and the problem has come back 10 times worse than it was before.

In the last 10K have had MAF changed and problem almost went away between that and yesterday's service. Its back now though! - really lumpy in 4th-6th under medium to heavy acceleration.

Garage say no faults on their code reader - I'll try my VAG-COM tomorrow but is there anything else I can check.

Plenty of talk on various TDI forums about the EGR valve - is this worth checking even if there are no fault codes thrown?

Any other ideas? It really spoils the car I have been so happy with, I just want rid of it now![:@]

Cheers

I've had the same problem with my car and it's been in and out of the stealers several times under warrenty. I've had a new fuel pump, maf, egr, fuel filter housing and software update. It's deffinately better now but still happens occasionally. It never showed and errors on the computer and I could never make it do it on a test drive with the mechanic so I have just learned to live with it. Keep me posted if you have any success.

Update

Well... car has been to a specialist auto diesel company (City Auto Diesel's in Plymouth) recently and a faulty fuel temperature sensor was diagnosed.

£15 from Seat and fitted today my problem seems to have dissapeared.

Car was showing no faults on diagnostics - but whilst loking at values from the sensor they found it was giving poor readings ranging from -12 to 80ish. Under normal driving it should show about 40 - 50.

Diagnosis was therefore the car wasn't fuelling correctly.

Will give the car a 'proper' run to work tomorrow but so far so good.

Anyone in the Plymouth area needing specialist help with their diesel engines - I'd recommend the above company highly.[B)]
