hey guys

dunno if anyone else is having lots of vibrating in the cabin when sitting in idle? i think it's due to the clutch as when i move the gear knob as if it's going into gear it stops, and when the clutch is pressed it stops...

it started a few months back but wasn't consistent...now it's happening almost all the time when the vehicle is parked or stopped and in neutral.

would it be the clutch? i had all the void bushes and mounts replaced under warranty last year...would this be covered with warranty?

and no, it's not because it's a diesel that it vibrates so much ;)

Greetings fellow shaky :D

This has effected my FR since new normally during warming up between 70-90 degs. :(

Mine shakes quite badly as you really feel it sitting at traffic lights. A quick fix which eases the virbration is to turn on the air con or some have found the rear screen.

Annoyingly if I just squeeze the throttle and increase the rpm by about 100 it smoothes out.

I have taken the car in twice to have it sorted and basically they cant do anything about it. I also asked it the idle could be increased slightly to ease the shudder and apparently it cannot. Stuffed basically. [:@]

If you do a Google search you will find other threads about shaking idling on the Skoda forums and VW especially in America whereupon it affects Passets quite badly. People tend to think the problem is focused around the duel mass flywheel which rocks at certain tickover speeds causing the shudder. There is no warrantee fix though. :censored:
When my clutch needs replacing (prob sold car by then) i will have a solid flywheel fitted.

Once mine is out of warrantee I have a (slightly mad) idea of buying a spare electronic throttle pedal and modifying it with perhaps a thin shim to slightly increase the tickover. This will probably throw up loads of vag com errors and wont work :shrug:but I may give it a go anyway as the tickover can drive me nuts at times.

yer...i'm just hoping it might sort itself

last time mine was idling in a similar way i had a leak in the boost pipe...so probably the same cause. i'd suggest checking all your pipes make sure nothing is loose as yours has done it from day 1 (everyone complains about the rubbish standard clips)

problem with altering the idle state on modern cars is it's all computer controlled now...whereas the older vehicles you could adjust under the bonnet

Not sure about whole cabin vibrating but my gear stick vibrates badly sometimes. It can sometimes be stopped by moving the stick around but it does come back if at idle between startup and first 10 mins of driving.

I saw some suggestions on how to fix this (link below), yet to get round to doing anything about it I admit. I was concerned about DMF as I've heard these are expensive fixes, but after searching it appears these are not a big prob on VW PD Tdi units.

Can't post link, not enough posts - search forums for - cure for gear stick rattle

I think i will check for leaks (good call :)) once this weather warms up as i sometimes get a kind of ringing noise which i guess could be a whistle when its left idling too long. Its a shame about the shudder as it lets my car down really. I can forgive all the other creaks and groans just by the way it goes and sips fuel :D
