Front Mounted Intercooler and Cupra bumpers 130FR

Hi,

I'm thinking of fitting a front mounted intercooler to my Ibiza FR, it is an 06 one so doesn't have the facelift FR front bumper. My question is....I know the fmi needs the Cupra front bumper upgrade, but are the new FR facelift bumpers the same? Or do the Cupra ones offer more room even though they look the same.

Thanks in advance :)

Which FMIC are you going for? The Forge will fit behind the standard one with no problems at all. No cutting needed and they even give you a new crash bar in the kit.

:) really? Yeah I was thinking a forge one. I need to save for it, but was thinking I would need to get a new front bumper too, so it will fit fine under the one I have now? I have been reading about them and it seems that people do the bumper mod first.

it will fit behind the std FR bumper, there is a little cutting required on the inside of the bumper, If you go on the forge website theres a fitting guid you can download

Ah. I didn't fit mine as it was the dev car for the Forge FMIC, so I dropped it off and then picked it up a week or so later with a shiny FMIC attached to the front. :D

:) lucky, does that mean you got it for free then?! Is it your car in the fitting guide pics on the Forge website?

Yes that was my car on the Forge website, but it's not mine any more. I've got a Cupra now, so no need for an aftermarket FMIC. :)

Nice! Looks like I missed the boat on the freebie. So if you had, had to pay for it would you say that it was worth the money? :)

The Cupra FMIC bolts straight on but boy is it expensive with all the pipes!

The bumper also requires extensive modification, especially if its pre facelift. Don't know about the new bumpers as I have a Cupra and don't really need to know :)

well im off to a few scrappys so thought i could always ask and maybe strike lucky haha! do any other fmic systems go on a straight fit? maybe leon? golf? etc

at the moment im trying to figure out how i can get more airflow to the smic without taking out the fogs, but i dont think thats going to happen.
