Fuel gauge not gone up

Hi. My car had 140 miles left in its tank so I filled it all the way up with petrol. When I got back into my car the gauge hadn’t gone up at all, but every 5 mins of driving the estimated miles left goes up 5 miles so I’m now at 170 miles. Any idea what this could be?

it calculates based on recent fuel consumption
if your average mpg went down it will give you more estimated mileage

I think it is in the fuel pump.
