Irie's MK1 Leon 1.6 S *Cupra Seats!*

Had the car a year, been hanging around the forums so I thought I might as well start a thread!

Bought the car last year with around 75k on the clock, condition was excellent for a 7 year old car (the previous owner was a priest!) and it is my first car so it has been looked after well since.

A few pics before I made any changes, unfortunetly most were done in low light and don't give the best idea

So far I have done:

Fabia Wiper - I hated using my rear wiper thanks to the juddering so when I found this site, this was the first thing to do!

Mats - Didn't have any when i bought it and the cheapo ones from halfords did by nut. They didn't grid so once ending up with the mat under my brake pedal  the one in the driver-side footwell was relegated to the boot after that! I think it smartens up the inside of the car so much.

Leather handbrake cover - much nicer than the plastic one!

Dash trim kit - Love the colour it gives, but I feel it looks a bit plastic. I'm considering some vinyl sheets (a bit like this) or getting some spare bits and spraying them, don't know how fiddly that would be to do though.

Re-badged boot - Not to everyone's taste, but I like it

White dials - Bought off ebay, love the appearance but the fit is a bit off meaning the light gets cut off and the needles appear to stick a bit. I will try and refit to see if that helps, failing that I may bin them and get some proper ones made up.

X-treme power bulbs - I like the idea of HIDs but given the potential for police attention, only being 23 with 0 NCB and paying nearly 1k insurance, I wasn't going to risk it! So got these instead, much better than standard!

So, a few pics after treating the car to some TLC. A few weeks ago I washed and clayed the car after discovering the "proper" way to look after a car, no more sponge and 1 bucket for me  Last week saw a clean and polish. I was stunned by how shiny the car became! I have a few minor scratches on some panels, some more serious scratches around the door handle recess from the previous owner and some on the passenger side mirror and doors thanks to tree brances on my way home from work. after working in some SRP they had gone, dead chuffed! I have just ordered for RB's Wax for my next cleaning session along with some degreaser so I can tackle the door shuts and engine bay (which is filthy).

Anyway, photos....

Money permitting I have a few things I would like to do, but given that I'm currently saving to try and get somewhere to live, they may have to wait. Not to mention that I want to start saving for a Cupra for when I can afford the insurance ;)

Seats - I really dislike the interior of the car, that horrible grey cloth so I am tempted by some Golf MK4 buckety seats. Again depends on cost but keeping an eye on fleabay at the moment.

New Exhuast - Whether I would go Cat-back or just the backbox I don't know. To be honest I'm pretty new at all this I don't really know what the implications would be!

Colour coding - I think it would really improve the look of the car, but so far have been quoted around £500 which is just too much.

Never got around to sticking these up! Took bloody ages to sand them down, but I like the effect. Unfortunetly a bit mashed up around the edges now due to repeated removals trying to fix the leaky seals, so may have to sand down slightly.

Will probably be on the lookout for some LCR Seats to go in here in the next few months, maybe some teardrop mirrors too :)

Cheers mate :) They were a bit more than that, can't remember how much exactly. The bleed a bit (the markers are cut out rather than translucent) and they don't have the middle warning light section, so I had to sit them on top of the old ones otherwise it looked a bit naff. I may save up and get some proper ones but at ~£90, it's a tad much at the moment.

Cupra Seats!

Picked up my Cupra Seats yesterday. Thanks to G1NG3R for the seats and help fitting them :)

Took all the seats out (except the drivers obviously!) before going to pick them up

Note the suspension difference due to the lack of weight!

Beautiful! Same seats I got, now get yourself some black door cards, glove box and lower dash trim! Well done mate!
It's tempting, but unfortunetly I don't think I can afford it for quite some time now! But I did spend a bit on some more detailing stuff to give the car some TLC this weekend :)

Seats look a huge improvement mate !!
Thanks, they feel so much better its unreal! I'm half tempted to to start sleeping in my car they are that comfy

So after nearly 4 years of ownership the time has come to say goodbye to the Leon :( Loved owning this car and I am genuinely sad to see it go. Haven't done anything to it in quite some time, but currently has 114k on the clock and still drives pretty well!

I've been offered a company car which should be here in early December so I will be selling at some point, although I suspect I may get more seller it to a breaker.
