K03s Upgrade on standard car...

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum as I'm picking up my very first Ibiza Mk3 Cupra tomorrow, it's completely standard on 77k miles apart from an aftermarket back box.

My question is, can I fit the upgraded turbo (K03-52,53,58) straight away with a remap with no other mods?
I'm looking for the biggest increase in power for my money while keeping the car standard(ish) - I want the engine bay to look standard. Hence using a performance panel filter rather than cone etc.

I don't want a front mount intercooler and silicone hoses everywhere if I can get away with not having them.

Does anyone have any experience of jumping straight into a turbo upgrade as the first mod?

Cheers, Andy (pics of the car will follow tomorrow)

I fitted a KO3s 6 months ago as a direct replacement for my KO3 which was leaking. Aside from the seals and a general tidy up of some silicone pipework, I didn't replace anything else when I did it. There is a sticky thread in the Ibiza Mk3 6K 2000-2002 section of the forum which details what you need for a KO3s upgrade and the part numbers. If you need help, Jason at AllGermanParts was very helpful to me even though I didn't need much from him (I bought the reconditioned turbo from The Turbo Unit).

Cheers for the link and advice, what sort of bhp increase did you get from the K03s? I've heard of you leave the cat in, you're limited to 210, whereas decat is more like 225.

I'm afraid I haven't had mine properly tested since to be honest. I upgraded to the KO3s merely out of necessity as when the car was getting a good service from the garage I use they raised the alarm bells on the old turbo. I have just been too lazy to get it put on the rollers since. I definitely think it drives different, the lag lower down the revs is more noticeable and the power band seems to have shifted, doesn't start really pulling now until around 2600/2700 revs (I still have my cat fitted). I thought the old KO3 kicked in a bit lower down but peaked earlier. I should get my finger out and get it mapped properly and on the rollers.
