Limp Mode!

Had the DPF light coming on a lot lately on my FR TDi (about 6 or 7 times in the past month!) and it's been taking longer and longer to clear each time.
I do mostly motorway miles (40 miles per day) and don't drive it hard.

Anyway, I phoned the dealers and booked it in for Tuesday for them to have a look.

The light came on yesterday and even though I did the 20 mile drive it didn't clear. As I obviously couldn't spend hours and hours driving around randomly in the hope it will go off, I had to return home.
It's been on all day today even though i've done a lot of A road driving and quite a few miles. Anyway, driving calmly home tonight doing about 60 in 6th gear and all of a sudden, whoomph! Massive loss of power and the coil light starts flashing! - LIMP MODE!! :(
So, I ended up coming the rest of the way home doing 30 (in a national speed limit, lol!).

Now, my problem is that the only way I can get it to the dealers on Tuesday is by going down the motorway. Will I be able to get up to 60/70 in limp mode? It's about 20 miles down the motorway and to go any other way is going to be a seriously long diversion!

I guess in a way it's lucky it's only just done it now and not earlier because I phoned up over 2 weeks ago and this was the first date they could book me in!

if i remember rightly 60 in 6th is less than 2k rpm. thats not heating exhaust gases enough. i tend to leave it in 5th if i'm doing 60 to be on the safe side to keep exhaust gases hotter. Hope you get things sorted soon.
The DPF is a pain more often than not. Hopefully getting mine removed and mapped soon.

No, I meant that I was just doing 60 tonight, ie not trashing it. I'd already done the 20 miles at 2k Revs.

very strange. what diesel do you use? and have you ever tried using millers additive. something definitely not right. could be a faulty sensor as those have been known to fail.

I don't use anything other than Shell V-Power. I have used millers a few times but don't use it on every tank (probably a couple of caps every 5 tanks or so). Not used it for a while though.

When I originally phoned up they said it could be a sensor and that they now stock them so hopefully it will be that and they will be able to fix it the same day.

I'm pissed off though as I'd planned to go out today for a drive somewhere seeing as it's a nice day and no work, however it's put a stop to that! :(

Apparently it showed up as the filter was actually blocked - god knows how seeing as I do only motorway miles!!

Anyway, they have regen'ed the filter and also replaced the sensor "just in case" lol! :)
