Looking at buying an 05 ibiza tdi cupra tomorrow from a seat dealer, mileage is 44k.
What should I be looking for ?
Cheers

Great choice of car mate, I have had my 05 Ibiza tdi Cupra for coming up 3 years in Jan, I havent had any problems what so ever, I've done 42k, the more miles you do with these engines the quicker they get, they dont run in properly till you get to about 60k or so:funk:

You cant really go wrong if your buying from a Seat dealer, I wish I could be of more help as to what to look out for, but the reliability on mine has been so good, there is nothing I can think of to watch out for!

Good Luck!:D

Check for -
Clutch slip
Full size spare
Rear washer jets work (Though this is an easy fix)

Do you mind me asking how much it's going for? I'm selling mine with the same mileage only it's an 04.

Cheers for the list.

The car was originally up fro £8995 at a Seat dealer in Liverpool.
The dealers have had a swap of stock and the price at a different Seat dealer is £7995.

Just as a comparison if nothing else, mine is up for £5995 now, so £2k cheaper, so there is better deals if you shop around.

Also check the aircon properly. Because I bought mine last January and the outside air was cold, I initially thought there was no problem when I tested it ie cold air coming from vents. When summer came, there was no cold air when I used the aircon!!!

So test the aircon for a least a couple of minutes and make sure cold comes through the vents. If you're at a dealer, I guess you can compare the aircon to other cars available.

Well below the book price at £7,995 :)

Still try and get more off it though as it truely is a buyer's market at the moment.

I only know that because I tried selling my 55-plate Cupra TDI on 37k miles for £9k and had no luck, despite the official (Glass’s Guide) prices being £8.6k trade and £9.5k retail. Pretty much given up selling it but not unhappy at that – they’re great cars :D

I paid £8900 7 months ago for my 2005 Lunar grey Cupra Tdi, so that is a good price. One thing to mention is that the front off side coil spring went on my car at 50 000 miles which I read afterwards is common. They normally go between 50 000 - 60 000 miles, luckily mine was covered under AA warranty but I decided to replace the other side as well. Other than that nothing else has gone wrong with my car but remember the cambelt needs changing at 60,000 miles or 4 years old which ever comes first.

Definitely, at £5995 I'm giving mine away, but still can't get any takers.

If we could have sold our Tigra private and you wasn't in Belfast we would have been interested. Had our Tigra up for 2 months with no interest.

Looked at the Cupra today and done the deal.
Managed to get another £400 from the original p/x price, service to be done and front brake pads needed changing.
