Hello, I've bought FL Ateca USB ports (575035736B) and tried to retrofit them in my FL Leon 5F.

Leon (575035736) pinout - HSD connector and 8-pin connector (USB + Audio)Ateca (575035736B) pinout - HSD connector and 4-pin connector (only USB)

I think that having Golf MK8 and Leon 5F wiring diagram was enough to successfully repin original connector to the Ateca one (12V plus, 5V plus, minus and the last one is for illumination). Infotainment didn't throw any errors at all and my iPhone was charging but I was not able to connect to Full Link.

As you can see there are two devices. One is my iPhone which can be connected using Android Auto or Mirror Link (both of them was not working, I wonder why :ROFLMAO: ). The second one showed immediately after going into Full Link despite not plugging anything into any ports.

Has anyone got any idea what might be the issue? Is that port MIB3 exclusive and there is no possibility to connect them to MIB2? My unit has MST2_EU_SE_ZR_P0480T version if that matters. I would appreciate any hints. Thanks!

Have you managed to solve this issue? I have been wanting to attempt a similar retrofit. I contacted a specialised VAG retrofitter and they mentioned they encountered a similar problem to the problem you describe when attempting to replace the USB-A with a USB-C module on a 2021 Passat.

Unfortunately not. I've asked folks on other forums and all I received was "of course it will not work, duh". Not very helpful, but apparently USB-C can only work with MIB3 units, MIB2 cannot handle them. You can read more detailed discussion here: https://forums.ross-tech.com/index.php?threads/41853/

I don't think you can connect an iPhone using Mirror Link & you definitely can't connect one using Android Auto, it has to be CarPlay.

I know, I know, but there is no other options than Mirror Link or Android Auto for my iPhone! You can see it on the photo I've provided in the first post. With stock USB module CarPlay works without any issues.

Do you have VCDS or OBDeleven? I updated my software a long time ago and had to re-enable CarPlay with VCDS.

AFAIK those are the 3 things that need to be set in order to enable CarPlay:
Code:
Module: 5F → Coding → Long Coding → Byte: 19 → Bit: 6 → enable
Module: 5F → Coding → Long Coding → Byte: 19 → Bit: 7 → enable
Module: 5F → Adaptation → Channel: Interface for external media activation - connection 1 → activated

And that's how my coding looks:

As I said, with stock USB module everything works fine. I've heard from at least 3 people that USB-C works only with MIB3 so I abandoned idea of retrofitting that module in my car. Maybe someday I will swap MIB2 for MIB3, who knows ;)
