Hi guys, names aron, long term lurker first time poster. Would appreciate any help i can get.

So ive read different threads about the common mk1 cupra r fan resistor problem. It presents with the slow speed fans not working and the high speed fan pulsing at 105, but only the larger fan, the small fans still does nothing. Ive changed my cooling fans twice, first time i even tested the fans by running 12v to them and sure enough the slow speed didnt work but high speed did which justified the switch. I still have the same issue after changing the fans again ! Slow speed not working and high speed pulsing at 105. Still the same with the smaller fan not running at all and the larger fan pulsing. After run pump has decided to start screaming after this change to top it off. At my wits end so any help would be appreciated. Can post a video tomorrow that better shows the problem if of any help !

Thanks !

Sorry guys forgot to mention also ive changed the fan control module and the coolant temperature sensor also, havent changed the radiator fan switch but dont think thats the culprit as the smaller fan never works even after changing them ? Fearing some kind of wiring issue ... As you can tell im no electrician but tryna learn, thanks again

Well you have done what I would have done, but a quick search says if fans are staying on it could be your fan relay that may have shorted internally causing a constant open circuit. Not sure if that helps but all the best

Appreciate the help guys ! Would the nime box not be useless to me ? As i said 3 different fans presented the same issue so my guessing is it's not the fans themselves ?

Yep, would be a gamble. It was just that youve tried everything and were at your wits end!

It bypasses the resistors completely, so if that didn't work it might actually help you trace any wiring fault

Im thinking my only option left and potentially my cheapest option might be to pay an auto elec to somehow wire a switch directly to the fans and put it somewhere in the cabin ? Rather than pay them to hunt down the fault ?

Did you get this sorted, if not then there is a themostatic switch that screws into the radiator. It decides the two modes based on the water temp in the radiator. Every chance that has failed or the wiring there is dodgy. Have you checked the big fuses onto the battery, there is one for high speed and one for low speed

Hi Aron, did you find any solution to this as I'm experiencing the exact symptoms you are.

I'd start it, leave it to warm up and the temperature would continue to rise. Only turning the A/C on would give the fast fan a burst to cool it down, but it would immediately rise again. Did you buy new fans or used? I've been reluctant to buy used as this issue is very common with the fans and I was worried I'd buy some with the same fault. If you bought new then I'm definitely concerned. Please let me know how you got on. Cheers

If you're sure it's the not the common slow speed problem, then check the thermostatic switch in the radiator. That is what is used to activate the different speed of the fans
