One of the local Suzuki dealers has had an 06 plate Swift diesel on its ramp since April, trying to get a new engine for this 60k car is proving a bit of a nightmare!

Its not the same engine as the Punto, but its still a Fiat diesel.

The Punto HGT/Abarth is coming out soon with a 150bhp 1.4 16v Turbo...wait for that and have a drive...surely that'll be enough poke.
They're nice to drive, not as nice as mine tho, but like you say plenty of standard equipment and excellent safety, but not sure of reliability. However, my old Punto Sporting 16v was great fun and very reliable!

But that's a petrol though isn't it ? So out of the question.
And anyway, 150bhp wouldn't be enough to continue the upward power trend of all the cars I've owned, which so far has seen 60 -> 75 -> 80 -> 105 -> 170ish -> 175bhp, so a remapped Cupra TDI will continue things nicely at around 200bhp and be my third remapped VAG TDI :)

Anyway I still don't think I could bring myself to buy a Fiat.
