New owner of FR some comments and questions

Hey guys

Well I finally upgraded my mk1 1.6 Leon - it was getting on a bit - Y reg! To a nice new(ish) FR with only 4K miles. Bought it without seeing it and ended up with the 18" wheels and Bluetooth Kit without the dealer even knowing about it! Absolutely loving it and it has a hell of a lot more power than my old one!

Anyway been browsing the forum over last few days and have a few questions which I have either not found info on or not enough info on so here goes...

1. Is there anyway to flick through the radio channel presets using the steering wheel controls?
2. Although the gear knob is pretty smart and matches I was thinking of sticking a Momo Cobra gear knob with the carbon fibre effect on it to match the dash. Anyone know how to remove current one? Only guides I have found so far relate to mk1.
3. One problem with the second hand car is all my wheels are kerbed already! Not bad tho but still. Found the post regarding touch up paint recommending Renault "Gris Brancard Effect" but tried to get this in halfords and had no luck. Is Chipsaway best way to get this colour?
4. Also have looked at forum post about upgrading the pedals to the mk5 Golf GTi ones. However only managed to find one pair on ebay for approx £80. Is there no other online shops whereby to find these?
5. Anyone found a good position for their sat nav? Had a air vent mount previously but can't seem to fit it anymore
6. Finally, I have noticed that my door sills get wet/dirty pretty easily even one journey after a wash! Is this common and whats best way to sort it? Sill protectors or walking round with Chamois in pocket?!!

Also noticed a lot of water coming out of door this morning after some wild weather last night. Guess it related to above point but again is this normal??

Sorry for all questions but I have tried to find solutions to all of above and just thought bringing them together might help me and any other new FR owers who have similar problems.

1. No.
3. Halfords should be bale to make the colour up if you ask them.
5. Mine goes on the screen above the air vents.
6. The latter.

2) Seat sport do a carbon effect one which is very nicely weighted and make the overall lever a little shorter giving a slightly shorter shift. About £60 on the Seat website, PM Seremotors he'll get you one discounted.

Fitting won't take more than 10 or 15 mins, it involves prising off the chrome surround with some trim removal tools, then levering up the gaitor (clips at 3, 6 and 9 o clock), pulling the gaitor over the knob. To relase the knob there is a clip below the knob under the gaitor, this can be released with a small screwdriver. Fitting the new is a reversal of the above.

number yes?
I tried holding it on mine and it just scans through the frequency?
What stereo do you have? The standard red screen Seat one?
Maybe it was part of a software upgrade on the ECU or something?
08 Cupra BTW.

1. Not to my knowledge
2. Try the SEAT ones as above. Quite a few people on here have tried to replace the gear-stick etc, but have found it bizarrely difficult.
3. Halfords dont stock the paint unless you order it in advance, and even then it is a bit difficult. They do however, do a colour which is almost idential for Renault - I cannot remember the name of it unfortunately. The particular colour which you're looking for, 'Gris Brancard Effect', was only made for the Vel Satis apparently, and not many owners visit Halfords for the paint!
4. For the pedals, try www.vagparts.com. I'm not sure if I can say that website, so it might appear as a blank space. If it doesnt appear, feel free to PM me and ill give you the site. They stock the pedals, but not the foot rest, which is stocked with OSIR but is very expensive.
5. I've mounted my Tom Tom to the bottom left of the windscreen which means its within reach for me, and doesnt create too big a blindspot.
6. The sills will get wet. The water will rarely enter into the actual car, but it will sit on the sills. Apprently, its better to see the water, than not because it means it hasnt leaked into the car!

Enjoy the car!
