right i've had a run of bad luck with my car, after doing the brakes the day after i bought it, then suspension it just seems to be one thing after another so depending on value

it's a 51 yellow cupra 83 ish k, MOT sept '09 tax 01 '09

in the 2 months i've had it's had:

racetech coilovers

magnex stainless cat back

recent front pads

just had oil change

new coilpacks

de cluttered engine bay + cleaned
-battery relocated to boot
-screen washer (1l) in boot
-sai removed
-carbon cannister removed
-N112 bypass
-N249 removed
-aircon removed

brand new H valve

forge recirc valve

new steel mesh cone filter

CAI

recent plugs

brand new aero wipers

brand new pioneer 17cm yellow competition speakers in shelf

boost gauge b/n (unfitted)

15" bbs splits 8.5j rears and 7.5j fronts with 195/45/15 shaved side walls.
cost a grand without tyres at the beggining of last month

clean bodywork 50p size laquer peel on the bonnet and roof.

looked at the clutch pedal and the prior owner has had it welded

is also revo mapped.

i gave 4k for it in sept needing a little work (brakes and suspension)

i'm hoping for £5100 but do you think i'd be better off getting some standard wheels and selling the BBS splits seperately?

is £5100 a reasonable value?

i'd guess in the 2 months i've owned it i've spent nearly 1k on having all the little bits done then 1k on the wheels so it owes me roughly 6k!

is it worth selling or shall i just persevere?

sorry for all the questions i'm really not sure what to do with it now....

maybe a bit less. about £4.5 in current market. depends how desperate to sell.

no doubt someone would pay £5k for it.

mileage is a bit high. i got mine with under 70k for about 4,300
(see my readers ride thread, and first post is spec i bought it at)

with the wheels? 4.5k?

they will sell for £900 + all day long, i paid 1k without tyres from a wheel refurbisher.

sorry to have to be the one to tell you this olethalb, but investing in a car (any car) is probably the worst possible investment.

What you paid for certain items like your wheels is not something that someone else will pay for them...

trust me the wheels are worth 900+ with tyres.

i didn't buy the car as an investment or to make money (obviously)

i'm getting on a bit now and i've owned 66 cars and after doing bits and bobs to them all i probably made money on around 10. i am well aware that modding/tuning a car is an outlay that you rarely if ever see returned.

just that a gave 4k for it and spent roughly 1k getting the little bits sorted then the wheels all in the past 2 months so would hope to see a bigger return than £500 on my 2k outlay. :(

sell the wheels seperately, get hold of some standard ones easily enough and cheap enough

what Ian said

may even be able to do a deal with someone to swap wheel for cupra ones with cash your way aswell, and may still manage to sell car for around your asking price.

i'm toying with the idea, shame as i sold mine for £100 with new bridgeys :(

i wasn't planning on selling the beeza at all but hard times and 'issues' have left me needing something cheaper to run

i know, and i was making good progress too. i was going to start a progress thread last night too after i'd fitted my CAI. :( the engine bay was looking much clearer and i'd just got a 1m square sheet of YELLOW carbon fibre to make some covers.

BBS RM/RS's arent any ordinary wheel so dont loose value as long as they are looked after..so i'd get them taken off & sell them seperately (advertise on edition38/ebay), i paid around 800 quid for my RM's with polished extended lips a few years back on my polo..the wheels were about 10 years old at least!...classics..but 15" is too small for an ibiza i reckon anyway.. I reckon 4.5k is a good ballpark figure for the car on different alloys.

at least someone understands the worth of such a set of BBS, but as for the size i like my small wheels, they help with acceleration braking and put less strain on your gearbox/drivetrain.

hmmm a mate of mine just found out and i'm selling it and has made me an offer on the BBS. cash plus his brand new lenso jobbies (bbs lookalikes) with b/n tyres it's enough cash so i can drop to £4200, but i'm unsure on what to do now???

for me the BBS would be a big selling point or maybe thats just me....

oh there are pics on the for sale post too now.

To me mate, the BBS's would be a big selling point... I wouldnt put the RM Reps on there and sell it... (Because i have them on mine and dont want another car looking exactly like mine :D) LOL!

i dont think they are mate to be honest..most people will see them as too small for the car & not alot of euro modders go for the cupras..more motorsport..sell the wheels.. it will be easier
