OK...I will shortly be upgrading the brakes on my Passat.

They are 288mm as standard, I've got the carriers on order for a 312mm conversion (can use same calipers on this car).

Couple of questions:

1) I'm after some recommendations for pads / discs. I want a setup that stops pretty well hot or cold (don't need to be trackday standard), doesn't wear too fast, won't crack or warp, doesn't generate too much dust, and doesn't cost the earth. Am thinking I might go for standard 312mm discs (GSF do Brembo ones) plus a reasonably good set of pads. Any suggestions more than welcome :)

2) Any issues with removing the splashguards ? IIRC my Ibiza didn't have any to start with, so I'm guessing not.

Thanks in advance !

Well you know everyone rates the Ferrodo DS2500 here so might be worth checking those out? Not sure about the discs though.

The Passat already has the same calipers on as fitted to the TT 225 etc, just needs the carriers. Unlike the Ibiza, which needed both. :)

I can see the splashguards, and they curve around the disc on the outer edge, I doubt they will clear.

Just wondered if there were any adverse effects of removal.
