Seat Key Fob Signal Frequency?

Hi,

What is the frequency used for '97 key fob? is it 433mhz?

Its 433.92mhz but it needs to be a Siemens key.

Do the keys feck up as a past time?

Or are they normally pretty good?

Usually OK, mine is a bit temperamental. Sometimes it will work from 20-30m away, other times I can be standing next to the car frantically pressing the button for 2 minutes

I have central locking but trying to work out if remote locking is also fitted to my little 1.4 SXE so i can buy the relevant key if necessary.

What is the easiest way to check it out?

you could ring the dealer with your chasis number, would probably be the simplist way to find out i would of thought

Thanks, just been doing some more Googling and came up with this site http://www.wisebuyers.co.uk/ which lists the standard spec of each car.

This shows mine as having remote locking as standard.

Sometimes the remotes are a bit fiddly. I remember having to press mine like 20 times before it would work. Rang up the dealer to get a quote for a new fob and they said £120 plus £30 programming.................needles to say I told them where to stick it. Hour later I went on Ebay, got myself a second hand one for £20, programmed it myself and now it works a treat.

As for the battery, I think that if you have low battery, the fob will only Lock the car, but it won't Unlock it.

Some work, in fact I have one on my desk that works on MK2 Ibizas.

Whoever offers me £25 for it can have it! You need to take apart your key for the chip though.

No, its just another normal boring key. I wish it was the flip key tho. To have a flip key you need to change the internals of the fobs over, which I've hear is a real pain.

Its just the chip that needs changing, the one on the original remote fob falls out on most keys!

Amen to that! Changing the batteries didn't help though.
