Stereo only works when cars off

So I'm not sure where to start, I have recently attempted fitting a new double din head unit into my Leon FR 2007 I have the wiring harness for it from dynamic sounds however it isn't the one with steering control retention as right now unless necessary I cant warrant the extra money for the lead that does this. Now everything seems to fit together the leads have power on the constant supply and the radio works when the ignition is off however when turned on the radio no longer works and turns of, I have checked cables and fuses and I'm really at a loss of what to do has anyone experienced this before?

Did you have a yellow and red plug on the harness?

If so swap them over so red goes to yellow and yellow to red and give it a try
