Seems like a good choice of exhaust there dude. Bit cheaper than the Pipewerx and cobra downpipe right?

Will see what power increases you get with this setup. I forgot to check, u have a FMIC yet?

Sent from my iPhone

We will have to see, I was told that the relentless DP and Decat will need to be cut and a flange welded on, did some maths and I would only be saving £90ish, but then i would have to pay a company to do some cutting and welding. Or I can just buy the full 3" system from cobra for under £600 :)

No FMIC yet, that will be after the exhaust!

Alright dude,
good job with the clutch and flywheel. Your sitting on an 05 plate right? bit worrying for me as im on a 55 plate so looks like this is maybe a mod im NOT looking forward to shelling out for eventually. However the car is nearly 7 years old, map been on it for 5, and clutch is still amazingly fine. Must be the Custom Code map.

Think a choice i will go for, couldnt bear a heavy duty pedal when stuck in traffic lool.

Yeah im on an 05 plate, 64,000 miles too, but then my map is 280bhp and 313lb torque and its the torque that has killed the clutch.... no not a good "mod" its something I need to do. Got a great price of £280 to fit it though! Local VAG specialist too

Ok I have had the clutch fitted now and seriously wow! Worth every penny especially if you have or are going to remap your car. I'm running 280bhp and 313lb torque and it was the torque that killed my last clutch (oem on 60,000miles)

The clutch pedal is lighter, the engine and the power is more responsive on a general drive - and when I put my foot down - instant power I'm a very happy guy right now!! £625 for the part and £280 to fit it... So not cheap but really worth it.

Anyone else bought one of these? I found it was the best and cheapest single mass performance clutch on the market.

Had a coil pack go 2 days ago, first time that that's wer happened. Did the "coil pack test" by having the engine running and taking out each coil pack clip at a time. If the engine feels like its about to stall that one is ok. If you unclip and nothing happens then that's the broken one.

£28 from gfs car parts. Job done!

A little while since the last update but due to an MOT fail I have now been "forced" into buying these:

2E7A9A74.jpg

Ordered yesterday - arrived today! They are the H&R Cupra R lowering springs, they will drop the ride height a further 20mm over standard LCR height. I failed my MOT on a crack in the suspension spring and a few other bits (bulbs, rubber on the pedals) so getting that sorted and getting these fitted at the weekend! These were £125 inc deleivery, Damian at DPM recommended these - basically I could of gone all in and bought weitec coilovers or the like... but decided against it. I will use these springs for now, cheap and cheerful, good reviews and will lower it then when I need to / want to I will buy some coilovers.

Next is the 3" turbo back, decat, non res exhaust from Cobra with the 6x4 oval tip no baffle... only £610 inc delivery!

MOT PASSED :)

Nice and easy to be honest, I sourced these H&R Springs from Damian at DPM Performance £125inc postage and they are to lower the LCR a further 20mm. They do exactly that and feel really good and the handling is much better!

I also bought and fitted the clutch pedal and rubber and a new brake pedal and rubber:

These were a bit of an pain in the a55 to fit, but got there in the end using a small flat head screwdriver to squeeze the rubber under the metal in order to get the metal on.

The springs are excllent, really good and the handling is even better - I only have an S3 upper strut brace and I do not have any other suspension/handling mods (other then standard) so just having the springs on have made a difference. I will look into getting a rear ARB and upgraded front ARB in the near future... maybe even a rear strut brace too.

Has the ride quality been affected much?

I think good choice with 20mm drop as its easier to live with.

Honestly the ride feels simlar/the same, its a little bit stiffer but not spine breaking over a bump and not as bouncey as a bouncey castle either! its really good, very impressed for £125! Also, the cornering has improved and feels much more stable in the corners with a lot less body roll. Very happy.

Hi Guys,

This week I fitted my 3" turbo back, decat non res COBRA exhaust system. It came delivered to work for £610 all in. Could not wait to fit it!

The exhaust came in 3 bits, down pipe and decat, centre section and back box.

Unfortunately I was not supplied with the fitting kit I should have been supplied with - so I contacted Cobra and they sent out a gasket and bolt kit. I jacked the car up on axle stands and ramps and looked underneath to start my work. I knew that the standard system is in 2 pieces which means cutting off the old system. You can do this with a hacksaw - I used a angle grinder!

The middle section you can unbolt - but my bolts where so bad I had to grind them down then punch them out.

I started from the back to the front incase anything happened I could still drive the car. This is a complete ball-ache by the way and exceptionally hard on axle stands/ramps. I had to prop the car higher then pictured and even then it was very hard to manoeuvre the middle section over the rear axle to meet the back box. Eventually got this done by (hitting with a hammer) the hook that is on the rear middle section of the exhaust in order to bend it slightly so I could get it through. Once that was done, bent it back job done!

Next bit was the turbo back, again exceptionally difficult to get too open the bonnet to get the light in! I was fortunate I had 2 other people with me (1 my brother and the other my mate who is a mechanic for Regal Autosport) so together we managed to do it and fit it.

If you do not have the correct tools I would strongly suggest you get it fitted by a garage.

I actually wish now that I had gone for the resonated system, so much so that I will be getting a silencer welded in by my local exhaust specialist because it is too loud for me. (for £30 for a resonated system from Cobra, I really wish I had done it!)

Here are a couple of before and after videos!

Inside the car: (please note - that at this point I did have the standard exhaust system on the rear seats, so the massive *bang* that you hear several times is the standard system banging on the rear seats) Also - the music was off and the windows were up.

Let me know your thoughts!

Indeed I was on that thread Tim... He was a right lemon!

The clutch looks great and I'm sure it'll do the job nicely! :)

As for the exhaust it sounds lovely that. If it's too loud then tone it down but it sounds sweet IMO. Good work on fitting too that's a good job done too.
