Use of "txt speak"

Its not just me that can't read or understand text speak then?! My mates know that if they send me a text message in text speak, I will not reply to it (I couldn't even if I wanted to!!)

I personally don't have a problem with "lol" after all it is only an abbreviation, should we ban FMIC, MAF, LCR, etc etc as well.

<pedant>It's not really an abbreviation, it's more of an acronym</pedant>

Then again it's an abbreviation of each of the component words... :think:

To be honest, I find txt speak easily understandable. I don't use it on here, because it isn't aloud.
