Wheel spacers....again!

I apologise firstly for starting another wheel spacer thread as I realise there are a few doing the rounds. However, I really can't find the answers I'm looking for, so hoping you knowledgeable people can help me out.

I've tried measuring what size spacers would bring my original 17" alloys out to the edges of the arches to give the car a nicer look. By putting a straight edge directly down from the arch and measuring back to the top of the wheel, I get measurements of 25mm for the back and 20mm for the front.

Does this seem a bit excessive? I've read on numerous threads that 10-15mm seem to be about right, but of course, it depends on the car, year, alloys etc.

If 20 and 25mm sounds right, does anyone have a link where I can get them from?

Many thanks everyone!

Car Length In Front
HIya :)

10mm/15mm is what is usually used for the Cupra with 19x8 wheels and an offset of ET50. That being said, these where to big for me as I'm lowered and running quite "Square" tyres. Even though the tyres are 235/35 R19, not all the tyres have the same shape due to differences in construction.

I think the 17" wheels are 7.5", so the 20/25 sounds about right, but again this is assuming you're not lowering.

If you bring it out flush to the arch then the tyre cannot travel into the wheel well anymore. The tyre will foul on the arch.

Buy a set of 20mm spacers first

Stick them on the rear. If it is okay after running for a bit try them on the front and get some 25mm for the rear

If too tight keep the 20's on the rear and get some 15mm ones for the front

As for spacers, check www.spacer.se fair prices machined out of aluminium. I've used mine for 4+ years both for summer and winter wheels.

You can also go to www.willtheyfit.com
For the front we know that 235 35 19, 8" Wide ET50 wheels are stock. With 10mm Spacers you can change to ET40. So enter 235 35 19 8" Wide ET40 and then compare with your set-up, example 225 45 17, 7" Wide ET40 (or what spec you have for your wheels). Then lower ET until the Poke matches the reference 235 35 19, 8" Wide ET40. The difference in ET from wheel spec is the appropriate spacer size.

That's an interesting idea;
My standard 17's are:
7.5X17 ET51
with 225 45 17's

And this shows the 19's with 10mm spacers would poke out 17.4mm further. So we know a 17.4mm spacer should be ok.
Obviously they don't make a 17.4mm spacer - so 15mm spacer would be safe. 20mm more risky.

There is some variation in sizes of the 17" wheels, ranging from my 7.5"
7.5X17 ET51 = 17.4mm 'poke'
7.0X17 ET49 = 21,7mm 'poke'
7.0X17 ET42 = 17.4mm 'poke'

Thanks again for all this useful info. Mine are 7jx17 et49, so hopefully a 20mm spacer will be just right going with the info from you SuperV8 👍

I'll order a pair, get them on and report back!

How did you get on with the wheel spacers? Any information would be great as I'm thinking of doing mine, I have the 18" alloys which are 7.5" and 51ET and thinking of 15mm all round.
