I have just had a set of Eibach springs fitted to my Leon Cupra R,and although the difference in height is probably only 10-15mm it has really firmed up the ride, and to my mind, now handles much more like it should for the performance it delivers(even before i had it remapped).

The ride is not harsh, and because it is only a minimal drop i do not have any problems with speedhumps(which is lucky because i cannot get to my house without going over at least 6).

For the £100 they cost,i would say it is an excellent mod, especially if like me,you are running bigger wheels(19's).

The only thing left that i am considering doing is maybe getting some 5-10mm spacers, for the back wheels in particular,as i think they sit in the arch a little too far.

TBH i only wanted the ride a little lower and firmed up a bit which is why i went just for springs(the car has only done 12k aswell),and i am really pleased, the car feels so much more planted now,and if i was to do the dampers,i would have probably gone for coilovers, but the springs were £100,and the coilovers £500,so that helped make the decision..............................plus i have spent so much money on cars since February (including this one),that i don't want to spend anymore.............................................for now anyway!!!;)

Have you or anyone ever put spacers on cars before? I put some 5mm ones on an old 1.8 16v Escort Si I had and they ruined the improved handling the spring set I had put on making the back lurch all over.

Has anyone else had that problem?

Altering the centre line of the wheel can play havoc with a cars handling, especially on the front end, where you mess up the arc that each wheel takes when lock is applied.

Some people are just lucky and some don't even feel there is something amiss, ie the car tracking funny over bumps.

Paul, any part numbers for that spring kit mate? lowering 10 -15mm sounds good to me:)

I did buy the springs new, they are from Venom.

They were meant to be about £110 plus £10 postage, but i bought a set of coilovers at the same time for the new toy and got a really good deal for the lot.......................if anyone is interested give them a ring, they always seem up for a bit of bartering, but even at £120 i would say it was well worth doing!!

Afetr what everyone has said though,i think i will leave the spacers.............................but the ARB's on the other hand...................
