Spacer Width

Hi I have a 1997 Car with Drum brakes,

I'm hoping to put 16" Cupra Wheels on but want to widen the rear track so it doesn't look so strange.

What width wheel spacer (20mm????) do I need and what length studs do I need (50mm??) (and where can I get the longer studs from?)

If I have a rear disc conversion do you still need the wheel spacers in the same way. (I think so)

Will doing this create any problems if lowering 60mm at the rear.
(I don't think it will but better to ask *****)

Rich:)

Yeah you'll get the bolts with the spacers, CH17 14x1.5x50 are what you need though.

Give us a shout if you want a price and we'll get some discount sorted for you.

best to go for 15mm if you going to lower it to avoid any issues with rubbing.
as for bolts if they dont come with the spacers, just go 15mm longer than standard bolts if fitting 15mm spaacers and 20mm longer if fitting 20mm spacers

So what your saying is if its lowerd 60mm with 20mm spacers it will rub? Is there any differance in handling between 15mm and 20mm?

you could have problems running 20mm spacers depends really on how low you plan on going and also wheel size and tyre profile etc
as for the handling i noticed a improvement using 15mm spacers on the rear.
as you know the mk2 doesnt handle to well as standard so anything such as a set of rear spacers, strut braces, lowering, uprated ARBs and bushes etc are all going to help

i think i might need spacers now...

With my new 17" momo's when i put them on the back the centre popper out, just the plastic bit with the red and yelllow momo corse writing.

will i need to get some small spacers so that i can put it back in? only happened with the back, the fronts good

You might scrub with 20mm spacers. That's what I have and I scrub at the back, though I 'don't know if that's not down to the fact I'm 60+mm down at the back
If I was buying another set I might go for 15mm just to be safe. My spacers came with all bolts required

i doubt you'll scrub with spacers.

I ran 25mm porsche spacers with it about 75mm lower than standard and it never rubbed
