You front brake discs look a lot smaller than mine? I have White FR CR with black 18's too. Can't go out and look though cause misses away in it but need to check this. I'm positive mine are bigger. Mine just got replaced before I bought it too.

lol there bigger because that a 1.9, just a fine looking one.

Sorry to bring this up again guys but i'm off out to get the caliper paint etc tomoz.

Is hammerite (tin) good stuff for calipers then?

Also, other than a wire brush and brake cleaner is there anything else i need apart from the paint?

Cheers

Masking tape and newspaper to tape off the rubber parts around the brakes. Think the brake cleaner would eat these so best to mask them off. Paint brush of course lol. Imo as long as its caliper paint I'm sire it will be fine.

Doesnt it have to be high temp paint? I wanna do brake hubs and calipers silver but cant find high temp paint. whei i was in halfords last, they only did blue and red high temp caliper paint .....

mine is at the garage getting properly done. stripped back to bare metal then rust prevention then a hardener and paint they look mint and hopefully Will be dry this morn. the person that did them before did a terrible job as they just sprayed some paint on without masking anything up and all the paint was slowly peeling off atleast this way they'll last a long time before need doing again. £250 all in including changing discs and pads

For those who did it themselves, how long did it take you, per wheel?

I'm doing mine black (candy white fr) and I'm looking at how much time I need to put to one side.

Going to get the proper painting kit too.

I took all 4 wheels off and then did one good coat on each wheel so by the time i was done with the 4th one it was time to apply the second coat on the 1st wheel and so on. I would allow like 4hours in total. But does it really matter as you can't drive the car for atleast 24hours after the last coat so not like your going anywhere lol.

So I think silver again when the candy white Leon comes.

Would powder coating calipers red, hold up against the intense heat?!

Yep, The temps that they bake the powder coat is probably higher than the temps of the calipers when braking. Don't forget that it's the discs that get really hot , not the calipers.

i know that but caliper paint still needs to be heat resistant! why are more calipers not PC'd?:

i know that but caliper paint still needs to be heat resistant!:

No it doesn't, well no more heat resistant than the paint on your cars roof in the summer.

Regular spreay paint or paint in a tin is plenty heat resistant enough for brake calipers. Brake drums on the other hand........................probably not in the long run.

How come once i've touched my caliper after a heavy run, it burnt my finger?
