Guest, 🚨New Stock alert: Premium CUPRA valve caps now available in the store 👉 Order now from the merchandise store
so is it all about the amount lb/ft an not the bhp?
That sounds pretty poor for a tuning firm to be like that, especially for the pricing![]()
Interesting reading this. I'm booking my car in for full polybushing very soon now so the clutch is coming soon after.
I want no hassle from this kit so Awesome need to keep on top of these minor issues or I will be showing them this thread! Lol.
Keep the feedback and info coming guys it's useful for everyone looking at buying one. Cheers!![]()
Also looking into this clutch before I go with a stage 1 map but I do quite a few mies in mine.
What sort of milage have people done since having this clutch installed ?
Hi guys,
Loving the forum and was wondering where to make my first post...
My name is Andy for CG Motorsport... (hence the name) I'm not here to give it the heavy sell, just give some real advice out and set right a few of the untruths that are sneaking into the clutch game at the minute.
Remapping - just because you have been remapped doesn't mean you need a new clutch the VAG group cars have been blessed with decent enough clutches compared to some of the atrocities that are in other cars. However a remap does mean more power is coming through the transmission and the life of the clutch will be drastically affected by forcing a increase of power through it.
Our Figures - (TDi's)
The stage 1 - Sports kit is good for around 330lbsft of torque
The stage 3 - Paddle kit is good for 420lbsft of torque - We think this is adequate for most cars, we supply tuning companies throughout the UK and Europe and work closely with their figures which suggest around 380-400lbsft of torque is a realistic figure for a stage 3 remapping on the 1.9 TDi's.The stage 3 offers about the same lbsft in the 5, 6 and 8 paddle, with less paddles allowing a more precise but aggressive gear change with the new 8 paddle plate providing a much smoother drive.
There is also a difference between sprung and rigid drive plates. With the more common rigid plates using a SMF driving can be quite harsh, this set up is more suited to track day use. However the newer sprung version will allow for a more natural 'daily drive' feel with the options of track day use.
We are having a lot of feedback that other companies are quoting much higher figures but we like to be more conservative with our figures to enable us to give you a solid guarantee.
Some of our customers have had around 425lbsft of torque out of our kits but this can depend on a host of variables such as engine condition, driving style and the general mechanical state of the vehicle.
'SILENT' SMFs - There is really no such thing as a 'silent SMF.' As a SMF is one unit it transmits a naturally generated harmonic noise, which some people are referring to as chatter. Our SMF does reduce this volume as do other supplier's kits but to call them silent is unrealistic I just wanted to clarify this to avoid any disappoint to an customers down the line.
I hope this helps people, I will be more than happy to offer anyone free technical clutch advice before purchase. Its really important that wherever you buy a clutch from you explain how you plan to use it so we will only sell you what you need not what we make the money on. I don't want any Seat users fitting a standard clutch on a remapped car as much as I don't want someone to fit a 5 paddle kit into a car only used to drive their nan to the shops.
What would you guys say about this clutch kit by awesome, for everyday use in my LCR and heavy right foot owner now and again with some 1/4 mile sprints? I didnt want chatter and from the feedback i thought i wouldnt get any/be hardly noticeable. After reading your post im thinking otherwise.![]()
this is also my concern..... im doing 150 miles a week on average an i do give it some welly
I've driven El's stage 2 LCR with the Awesome kit and I couldn't hear any chatter at all really if I'm honest. Was very quiet in operation and the pedal feel was similar to OEM which I really liked.
I have heard Sachs' SMF's which have been quite a bit noisier in operation.
Hi, I don't want to comment on any other suppliers kits but as a rule no SMF kit is silent. They can be quiter but I've not heard one as yet that is actually silent.
The honest truth is you will probably get some harmonically transmitted noises but how they come through the car will depend on a host of variables based on your cars age and condition. As with the chatter its all a matter of opinion and taste.
What kit are you looking at buying from them and how much have you been quoted.
Andy
