Hey everyone,

I've been thinking about remapping my 265 SC.

Allegedly, the guy that does it can bring it up to 345HP and 330 ft lbs of torque.

My question is, how well can the DSG gearbox can handle that insane amount of torque upgrade?

Is the motors life span going to be significantly reduced? Is the clutch going to be able to handle that kind of remap?

Thanks in advance!

im going to give it a year or two and see how others get on before remapping.i think you should always be prepared to have to pay out for new clutches , tubos etc because your voiding your warranty

Regarding the warranty - the guys who do APB in our town say they will map the ECU back to stock when I need to service the vehicle, they've been doing new Golfs and Octavia MK3's for a while and havent registered any problems with the dealer and warranty yet.

Stage2 280 here with DSG no issues.

Previous cars include MK2 Leon Cupra R 2tage2+, MK2 Leon FR TDI Stage2 and MK4 Ibiza 1.4TDI Stage1.

Jesus, stage 2 on a 280 mk3 must be insane. Thanks for the input man.

This guy works for a company here in Mexico. They are called GT Tuning and they have been pretty successful here in my country. They offer you 15 day warranty. If you don't like it they will remap it back to stock and give you your money back.

Thing is that I've heard so many mixed reviews about remapping that I've been sort of hesitant on this subject.

I heard the cupra 6 Speed DSG is better than the FR's 7 for the remap. Something about the box handling the torque a lot better on the 6 than on the 7? Not exactly sure.

Mind if I ask how much hp / torque are you getting with the stage 2 you did?

so you would recommend it for the 280? I was trying to find someone to ask about it that had a 280.
have you noticed any increase in MPG? Was it hard to fit (have to go underneath car?)? :)

thanks

either 280 or 265 it doesn't matter. Friend of mine mounted the same kind of box for Golf R VII. I can recommend it and at least considering short time I'm using it. I think you will get more HP on your 280 than on mine 265. You need to plug in box to 3 sensors and the most difficult is get into the shaft sensor that is located at the bottom and you need to use ramp, remove bottom cover and plug in. Other 2 plugs are available from the top (just open the mask and plug in). Regarding MPG I'm still observing and haven't came to the conclusion yet, To early to judge, it's just 3rd day

ah ok. well could you drop me a message when you eventually come to a conclusion please as i'm kinda wanting a little more mpg but as long as it does not decrease, i'm fine with that.
raflo, which box are you running?
Maybe a box is the way to go for now?. Have u seen vtech stage 2, 370bhp and 480nm;). Iam ready to pull the trigger after 1 service:D

Mattias, yep sw-tuning isnt in my mind.. Have you seen revo stage2? Wicked numbers in The right conditions above 400hp..

Ill go for a box, just cant figure out which one. Been in contact with promotech but they re not connecting to The fuel rail. Superchips currently doesnt Have anything.
Dtuk is interesting, also a south african guy developing a jb4 for golf mk7 r and gti. Might be something worth waiting for.

The need for a box increased today after having a short race against a BMW 123d, must Have Been tuned. I gained quite clearly above 100mph but below that, not much.. And, The dsg put in 6th Gear at around 100mph in Cruise
