Evening all,
I'm now on week 7 of waiting for a replacement sunroof panel for my MK3 FR which exploded whilst stationary in my office car park.

The part is 5f4877071a.

Does anyone have any contacts that can help look into this in terms of sourcing.

National Windscreens and now Autoglass are doing my head in!

Thanks in advance,
James

Is there an equivalent part number, I have found a 5F3877071A (1 digit different?)
Also is the panel the same on all of the Leons, I.e. is it the same on a Cupra Leon age 2015 for example?

Was it during one of the heatwaves? There's a guy called Richard Gibbard on the 'MK3 Leon Owners Club' Facebook page, that buys MK3 Leon's to break. In the past, I'm sure I've seen him posting one with a panroof.
Yep it was the end of June heatwave, walked out to my car in the office carpark and it had a big hole in the roof.

Ok thanks for the info, I'll see if I can track him down.

Does anyone know if the part is the same on a Cupra Leon between 2013-2020?
Does the number of doors on the body shell have an impact?

What's the likely hood of getting the parts if this is the case then please?
If you didn't want to wait you could definitely pick up a second hand one off of Ebay and fit it yourself......I had a knocking from my panoramic sunroof on my old 2017 Cupra leon and took a roof off a few times to fix it and very easy to do.......just depends how desperate you are.

Actually after a good look ......they seem to be a bit harder to get hold of than I thought which is annoying .
Thanks for looking, What's concerning me is how long I'm going to have to wait, have not experienced anything like this, when I had accident repair work done previously it was within a month repairs.
Has anyone else had long back order waits?

Cupra was the high performance trim level on the mk3 Leon in the same way that GTI is a high performance trim level on the mk7 Golf. So IMHO a pano roof on a mk3 Leon ought to be the same for FR and Cupra trim levels. That’s just my opinion though.

LLLParts website includes VAG manufacturer parts diagrams (https://www.lllparts.co.uk). If you click on the ‘browse’ button on the first screen under ‘original car manufacturer diagrams, then select Seat -> Europe -> Leon (Seat) (LE) -> select the year of manufacture of your car -> Body. You’ll find the pano roof parts diagram towards the bottom of the ‘Body’ screen on the right hand side under ‘Glass Sunroof’. Alternatively, you can input your car’s VIN on the second screen on the website in the box above the car manufacturers’ brand logos.

I had a rear window explode once while I was driving but that's the first sunroof i've ever seen do that.

I’ve read on various VW Golf forums over the years of a few mk7 Golf sunroofs exploding. As far as I can remember the cars were being driven at the time, unlike the OP’s which was parked up when the pano panel exploded.

Me too, had a rear window explode on an Octavia estate a few years ago. No reason whatsoever why it did it
