Should I get a Formentor VZ2, or not?

Hi.
First post.
I've just had a test drive in a Formentor VZ2 (333ps) and am still undecided about it. Should I be looking out for anything in particular? Does it have any weaknesses or issues I should be aware of?
On the other hand, is there anything amazing about the car that I would benefit from knowing?

Morning Scott! Thanks for the reply. I'm currently doing the sums to see if it works for me financially, but I'm struggling to see what's not to like about the car.
Being honest with me, do you have an mpg of above or below 25mpg? (not that your answer would be a game-changer - I'd just like to know what the real world mpg is likely to be).

Not wanting to bother you with a stupid question, Scott, but when I looked at the car yesterday, neither the salesman nor I could find the dipstick!!! Is it the black plastic thing (front left corner of engine block) that looks like it might be the end of a dipstick, but seems to be locked, or does the engine not have a dipstick?

I know that VW have stopped fitting dipsticks in some of their cars (it might be all models?), so this is probably a universal move across all the VAG brands and would suggest the engine variant in the Formentor you’re considering also no longer has a dipstick. On those models without a dipstick, the oil level is now checked in the car settings menus accessed via the infotainment screen.

I think the dipstick tube on the engine block is probably still there, but it’ll be fitted with a plug over the end where the dipstick would’ve been inserted. I personally like to physically check the engine oil level the traditional way in my car and not have to rely on sensors and an on-screen display.

Thanks for that - I reckon you may well be right. It looked like a plug/cap - and it was black, whereas the tops of dipsticks these days seem to be a bright colour. Being old school, I too like to check condition of the oil on the dipstick when I'm buying a car. Oh well - I removed the filler cap and it looked okay in there.

EDIT: If I were to buy the car, I wonder if it would be okay to remove the plug and use a dipstick? Can't see why not (apart from probably invalidating the warranty!!!!).

I average around 29mpg on My Leon if it helps, obviously the Formentor will be a bit heavier. Worth seeing what others are getting in our Formentor Forum.

Cheers,

Scott

^^^^ Fuel Consumption?

Over 4 years and 45k miles in my Ateca VZs (c. 350ps) 😉 I've averaged around 28mpg with a lot of short journeys / town driving. On a touring run, I'll get 30-32mpg.

Thanks for that. Very handy information.
For anyone who (quite rightly) is thinking, "Why on earth is he worried about mpg if he's considering a VZ2?", trust me, I know what you mean. In the past 22 years my 4 cars have been Nissan 350z's and Nissan 370z's, none of which have returned more than 19.6mpg - so I know what to expect. I'm simply interested in knowing people's real world experience of mpg in these Cupras.
