Cupra Raval Production

Quite a bit of news on the start of the production line. This one was offered to me on my news feed:

Of interest the larger battery ones of both models will be built first. The piece goes into the robots etc. The Spanish PM was there at the launch of the converted Seat plant. Still calls it Seat even though VW and Cupras are being built there.
If you remember the past Vag announced it was doing away with Seat but clambered back from there that the Spanish plants are quite handy. Not sure of whether any Spanish development money past or whether .... ah The Future: Fast Forward project at the end of the piece.

And Seat continues to make and sell Seat ICE cars in their revised strategy. Then presumably Seat gets it's hands in the Vag bin of electric parts come 2030-2035 period. Premium cars being electric, get branded as other cars in the group made in the Seat factory. Probably really an extension of shifting manufacturing to a lower cost base countries.

Not sure what to think of the Fiord Blue color at the rear diffuser... don't quite like how it looks in this pic but then again it's not quite the best pics to judge from and this environment has TONS of lights so might make it look a bit shinier/brighter than typical real world scenario but here it does give a little bit cheap look, was thinking they will probably go for some grey color in that part. I went for this default color when not quite fully enjoying any of the available ones but this is the first time the Fiord Blue Raval has been revealed. Otherwise I think looks fine, especially enjoying how the Cupra rear lights match with the color.

I know, I've checked out a lot of Terramar and Formentor pics in the color (seems to be one of those colors that vary a lot depending on environment lighting and such). My point was more this is the first Raval real picture with this color revealed and was unsure about specifically using the fiord blue color at the diffuser part, aesthetically would look better with some matte plastic grey or something, with the Matte green and Plasma color these parts didn't stood out in a negative way but here it kinda popped out in my eye a bit. Those cars in the production facility were with the low spec 17" tires though so might be the cheap models have different kinds of designs elements compared to the VZ model too.

No I'm sure it's Fiord Blue in this video, it just happens to have a more greenish tint to the color in that environment (or maybe post production) but there's also the matte green cars in the video where you can see the matte color look far different. In the above (first linked) video at 1:12 there's also a Fiord Blue Raval driving through the final quality check point and while it does it changes into matte green version.
A better name would be "glacier run off".
A nod to climate change. The lakes where the soil deposit from melting glaciers makes the water turn milky blue.Think its actually ground rock suspended in the water... but feels like that colour.

You probably have to see it in the flesh until you said that those were a different colour to the body / bumper. Assumed they were the same colour as the body but not the bumper. You get the urge to tamp them see what they are made off.
They might have a colourist on the production team that tinkers with everything to give it a look and feel as well as the paint changing colour under different lighting conditions.

Still it's a pretty unique looking car... inline with the other Cupra designs once they went their own way.

This was one of several reasons I decided not to pre-order and take a cheap 24 month Abarth 600e Comptizione to fill a gap and have some fun. As, I really need to see it in the flesh in different colors as was initially looking towards a V1/V2 but now would of been a VZ, so also want to compare with the ID Polo GTi. I think the Raval is very colour dependent and not sure if white suits it or not as an example. Interior too with the different seat colours and how they work with different exterior colours is another consideration. I would rather wait and see even though it is a great design and some stunning details but those details are also the reason to wait and see one in the flesh. Along with good old Autotrader showing various colours and interiors.
In white on cars with sculptured panels you dont see the lines so its a bit of a waste of time as far as the angular look. If you dont like the panel design whites the colour . But that's a bit personal.
I did actually see the Ateca at a trade show in the colour (rhodium grey) so I didn't order it blind, but didn't see the seats. UK Seat had a thing about leather seats at the time, at launch you could only get the Xcellence (sort of VZ at the time), in black leather, brown choice available elsewhere in Europe plus man made fibre. Couldn't test the seats in leather for comfort, but did the rest. So yes I did see the colour and chose the same in the pre order period when that commenced. It was a fleet show and the Seat Fleet guy was so understanding about my small fleet of one car.
You also really need to see the colour in day light where those tester models come in to take outside the showroom. Can be tricky if its a new colour and its not on any of the cars outside or the colour tester panel hasn't come in... where the sales guy comes in. All part of the fun.

The only other color (besides Fiord Blue) of Raval that slightly had interested me was also White but my reasoning was also similar as Tell when it comes to the lines and I love the sculpured shape especially on the hood and the sides and White tends to hide those better AND I didn't buy a Raval to just look more like the other normie Tesla white that is clearly the most common car you see here (although new grey non-metallic Volvos are also getting common sight here recently).
MagneticTech Grey was too much like a standard grey that for example my parents Nissan Qashqai comes in and never quite liked this grey. Plasma I'm not too fond of the purplish tint and then to pay 1000€ extra for that as well, never quite like that color on a car except the new Mazda CX-6e that might have been a purple color I could have considered. Black doesn't quite fit the rebellious/aggressive/expressive character it wants to project and hard to keep clean.
So in my case it doesn't matter much waiting or not to see it in flesh eitherway as probably no option is perfect, I guess the best cure is to stop being so fussy about it and just wait judge it in flesh/reviews outside car factory where the whole roof is made full of lights so looks quite a lot different than any real world scenario. I would if I could decide, take the same Plasma paint's diffusor grey color/design with the copper accents at the end of the diffusor (to match the subtle copper accents on the Rebel rims).
EDIT: The Cupra dealer said he would post pics of VZ Fiord Blue as soon as any of the dealership shops get one in, the first Cupra Raval are arriving to the country right now. According to him there's a possibility VZ might have slightly different styling elements too, if you look careful on the VZ pics the diffusors go more straight down in a 90 degree angle when they look more subtle and slanted in these non-VZ pictured models on the production line. So there's a possibility the VZ one might have slight differences to the styling too but he couldn't say for sure if it's just due to the color differences or VZ trim etc playing a part so we'll see...

Even the Vandal rims looks suprisingly good with this color I'd say. I thought maybe it would be too much glaring copper that stands out a bit too much but from this video it looks quite okay to me, compared to some Formentor video I hated how the copper rims looked vs Fiord Blue but I get the feeling the more darker overall tone to the rims here works a bit better. I didn't fancy going for Vandal rims so went for the standard "Rebel" as they were kinda expensive and unsure whether all that copper would match with Fiord Blue and thought was almost a bit too "overdesigned" but yea looking at it now I'd probably have liked that combination too.

I get the feeling the Raval looks more "greenish" in the Fiord Blue color so far than Terramar and Formentor typically does but it might be just concidence with how building colors are being reflected nearby, camera settings etc. Certainly an interesting color though.

With some of these colours you wonder whether its a colour not available in the UK. It happens. There factory pictures seemed to show one like that.

Here's the first proper Fiord Blue walkaround video in good quality that matches very well the Fiord Blue of Formentor/Terramar.
I like that it's the same colored roof so you get to see how it looks with the same body colored roof and I think it looks great with Fiord Blue so probably won't make any switch to midnight black roof color. Also imo the Vandal rims heavy Copper accent rims might be a bit too colorful/contrasty looking for Fiord Blue (just imo, YMMV) so kind of glad I picked the default Rebel rims with more subtle copper accents. These rims seems more specifically designed for Plasma color option imo.
