All cars on 16xx can be updated to the latest software by dealers/independent workshops
All cars on 17xx/18xx/19xx (not out yet) are updated OTA
For any of them with Full Link, wireless can be enabled (for vehicles with telematics, which is all UK. Hit and miss elsewhere)
Hopefully it has been fixed this time - 5 wires have been replaced that connect to the telematic unit and the dealership are saying no issues on the dash or in the fault codes so finders crossed this time it might be fixed. I should be able to pick it up today or tomorrow.
So i have picked up the car tonight. Nothing has been updated still on 1672 The service only performed some sort of telematic unit reset. That's it. Unfortunately error persist. That's what has been advised by Seat UK! Gosh did we ever get this sorted?
Spoke to dealer and the usual reply is bring car in for diagnostic check. Having read up a bit more it appears that this has been going on for a year at least so why not say there os an ongoing issue and there is a fix?
Where can I find the firmware number to check my release?
A896 is the same as 1896 as yours was done ota and 1896 is done at the dealer.
The update for the sos problem is updated on the telematics module. The software should be on 142 but you can only check this using OBDeleven if you have it.

My thought on the situation was that the telematics failed due to a software glitch./ SIM mobile down. I did not hear any pops but the SOS error was the first issue and noticed the SOS was not lit up at buttons. Maybe should not have tried a reset of infotainment as that took out radio and...
I know the ones for Seat Leon:
The additional recall for MY2020 only is called 90T4
and this is the TPI summary:
TPI 2066692/1 for cars with 16xx > 1896
TPI 2066091/4 for cars with 1780 > 1896
TPI 2066091/1 for cars with 1790, 1803, 1804 and 1890 > 1896
...updating. How can it be a software issue when it worked fine before the update?
I couldn't even login at all until I recommissioned the telematics module after the update. Now I can login but I can't become the primary user

...be getting on top of it slowly. It depends which firmware release your mib3 is on whether the dealer has the instructions to sort out. The telematics unit causes the pops and that's been an issue for a couple of years across all VAG brands with moaning in the press etc. The car going off map...

What is TPI that you mentioned?
I checked and software is 0804 which I assume is 1804 so 1896 would be next update. Does that fix the telematic error though?
Well people thought that 1896 was going to fix all their woes but the pop that originates from the telematics software it doesn't touch so I would not apologies. I don't reckon too many Seat / Cupra people have had that fix but I could be wrong. That is the issue that has been plaguing VAG MQB...
...and others, it seems that the 1896 update only addresses the infotainment bugs, not the SOS error as this is controlled by a separate, telematics module. Evidently VW are just releasing an SOS update for the MK 8 Golf's so looks like we'll have to wait for god knows how long for a Seat...
TPIs are the internal upgrade documents that the dealers have. Tells them what to do. Technical Problem Information (TPI). You are suppose to be able to access them yourself via Erwin the paid Vag information publication service. Dealers obvious have access to this. When they say there is a...
Not just the 16xx then. On the Formentor thread the telematic stuff isn't being upgraded yet unless you are on 16xx.... the drift. Have to wait inline for some, including the clicking.

It's the telematics module. See here:

It appears that the 16xx people who got the upgrade to 1896 got the fix, whilst lesser mortals didn't who got a 18xx update but we're not on 16xx. Discussed on that...
