Streaming music over bluetooth

My girlfriend got an Audi A1 at the weekend and I've been playing with the onboard computer, one of the options is to stream music from her iPhone to her car sound system. You simply pair the iPhone, hit play in the iPod app on the iPhone, set the output to the Audi (instead of headphones/aux), and set the input on the car to bluetooth.

When I got into my Ibiza FR this morning I tried the same, it seems you can tell the iPhone to stream to the car, but I can't see an option within the car to set the input to bluetooth, it just has CD or USB under Media.

I'm guessing you can't do this but I figured its worth asking!

I also found out you can hold down the open/lock buttons on the key to open/close the windows, I never knew that! :D

That's one of the reasons i didn't go for the Seat bluetooth option and purchased an aftermarket doudle din JVC instead. I had that in my last car and i wanted it again.

The Seat bluetooth doesn't seem to work with the A2DP protocol that is needed to stream music via Bluetooth.

Thanks for the responses both :) I'm not too bothered by it as I use a USB stick at the moment and I don't sync my iPhone with new music very often.

It was more out of curiosity.

You want a Parrot MKi9100 or 9200 handsfree kit! :D

Supports my HTC Desire for A2DP without issue. Oh and my Ipod Nano, plus USB and AUX interfaces all concealed in the glove box ;)

Go for it! :D

I reckon the onboard audio system in Audi A1 will be possibly coming to the next range of Ibiza's. Lots of rumours about this. Plus hopefully DAB radio too.

Ford have announced that all cars from 2012 will have DAB as standard.

Just for the wider SEAT picture, Bluetooth audio streaming is available on Leon/Altea if you take the factory satnav. Also it's standard on the new Alhambra (Bluetooth on every one).

Use a flash drive in the USB socket!

It's not the bluetooth streaming solution that you wanted but it's an alternative that works for me.

I use a 4GB flashdrive that can hold over 1,000 mp3 tracks. The car's display allows navigation of folders and sub-folders - Simples.

I use an ultra slim flash drive the same as this 2GB one (with the cord removed) . It's left plugged in all the time and you can't even see it's there.

Yeah but the nice thing about having it done via the phone is you can get your telephone calls and sat nav instructions through the car speakers, with the music automatically muted when it needs to be. At least this is the case with the iPhone anyway.

It works the same with the USB flash drive. Incoming/outgoing telephone calls will automatically mute the music.

We don't use an iPhone or a dock. Our telephones connect via bluetooth. One is fully compatible (phonebook, recent call list, etc) but the other we have to dial out by speaking the telephone number to the car. Both mute the audio automatically.
