Noticed over the last few days that my climate control isn't working properly, seems its nearly always blowing out cold air regardless of what temperature is set. Works slightly better when driving at a constant speed, but sitting in traffic for nearly an hour this morning all I could get out was cold air. A/C seems fine so its just the heater element. Any ideas? Heres how it was set:

Is there any way to bring up diagnostics on the screen? Beginning to slightly regret buying an early MK5 seems it has lots of niggles and the warranty has just ran out. Doesn't help that there is no temperature gauge so can't tell how cold/ hot the engine is.

Is your external temperatre showing the correct temp?
In the mk3 sometimes it could read silly temps like +40oC and the climate control would only blow cold air on the assumption that is was roasting outside.

In the mk3 sometimes it could read still temps like +40oC and the climate control would only blow cold air on the assumption that is was roasting outside.

Yeah I wondered that but it was correctly showing the external temperature (9 degs)

IIRC its three buttons for the hidden menu.

AC button, Down air and mid air all need to be pressed at once and held in till the menu appears.

Cool will try that at lunch.

Well turns out my car had completely ran dry of coolant, wasn't even close to the minimum level. Topped it up and took it for a run and all seems ok, climate control operational again :)

Lucky I picked this up now as any later and the engine could have been screwed, surprised there wasn't a warning light that it was running without any coolant...

That was lucky.

The lack of a coolant level sensor is another example of cost cutting.

You would have thought that a coolant level sensor OR a coolant temp gauge would be fitted but they chose not to fit either.

Where has the coolant gone is also a concern. There should not be any useage so you either have a leak from a pipe or joint, or the head gasket or heater matrix could be leaking. Not good either way.

That's one of the things I don't like about the Ibiza, the BIG omission of a water temp gauge and SEAT being miserly with the warning lights too. I've already had a mini rant about the lack of a water temp dial elsewhere on this forum! lol

Glad you escaped without any engine damage! :) I would however be concerned as to why your car has being losing coolant....

Bringing up an old thread here, But what button is the Mid air mate? Convinced there's a fault with mine as it only blows hot air !
