Hi guys how are you all.

Please to say my Leon has been good for a long while.
However the last two days she started making this noise.
Seems to be after a short trip.

Took her to my local garage today and do you think she would make the noise

Anyway, take a look and listen and let me know.

Thanks

Mike

Get the ribbed belt off and then start the car for a short while only. Noise still being present means water pump/tensioner/idler pulley.
No noise ....alternator/aircon pump/power steering pump.

Hi Paul

Bit beyond me that.
Why would this noise stop once the car has really warmed up, say after 10 miles or so?

The noise seemed to be from the middle front, which is why I suspected that air pump!

Thanks

That noise is deffo not the air pump....it will turn off after about 1 min. Some worn bearings will be noisy until warmed up, until they one day get too warm and go bang......

As an update, had the cam belt replaced and a alternator belt tensioner that was knackered yesterday.
The annoying noise in my video persists :(

Someone said it could be the gear box release bearing??? sounds like another astronomic expense coming my way.
Hope not only just recovered form the new engine shock

Further update.

Just back from the garage where this is a really top chap doing the work.
He put the car through loads of tests and has concluded that it's not the gear box or clutch.

The sound is coming out of the vents between the engine and clutch box.
So I got the location right.
As to what it is he does not know?
