colour or behaviour

Recently my heating has been playing up. It started when I removed the coolant reservoir cap to have a look at the coolant level when it was still hot. There was a hiss and some gurgling but the level was fine. Since then my heating seems to work fine when your driving, i.e over 2k rpm. But...
