Transmission/diff whine!!!????

Just joined Cupra.net today as I have just bought an '05 lean cupra R with 12K miles on it. From about day 2 of owning it I started noticing a whing noise from the engine bay when I lift off the accelerator. The noise is really noticeable in 1st when I let the accelerator go after reaching 20mph...
