1.2 TSI reverse switch location.

Can anyone advise me where to look for the reverse light switch on my gearbox, is it on the top, side or underneath?
My reverse lamp is not getting any power to it so I am presuming it is the switch but don't know where on gearbox to look.
Any help welcome.

Its a 6 speed manual. I got this photo sent to me but this gearbox doesn't look like mine.

Yea that what the switch looks like it’ll be more or less these in most vw gearbox’s in manual. You can use a spanner to undo it and just refit the new one. You may have to remove your air box and possibly battery not sure on the tsi engine.

Thanks, tried looking under battery using mirror but no sign of it. I'll remove battery fully and take another look at weekend.

It might be level with the starter not as high as your photo. Where abouts are you?

If your shifter looks like this it might be easier to get it from under the car take the under tray off and undo it from below. Definitely less hassle then taking out the battery.

That's my gearbox, just been outside to take a look and I can just about see it under the starter.
Looks like it should be much easier from underneath.
