hi

i am desperately hoping someone can help me or point me in the right direction. i keep getting AFS issues everytime i wash my car.

the background is that years ago i had a bit of a prang where i destroyed the bottom of the front spoiler along with some radiators / coolers and whatnot - this was repaired but i think the headlights were overlooked.

after a few bulb issues - i took it all apart to replace a xenon bulb and noticed cracked mounting points / screw holes for the backing covers of the headlights - this is on both sides. i tried to repair it using copious amounts of steel putty but was not successful.

as a result - all i need is new rear backing covers for xenon headlight housings for the 1P but last time i looked on erwin - i don't think i could find a part number just for the backing covers.

any suggestions? i really don't feel like buying two new headlight housings. i think that the last time i costed them (years ago) they were probably close 300 pounds each just for the empty housings. (this was costed in South Africa).

Unfortunate you can't get them on their own anywhere mate. Your best bet would be to try breaker yards but your chances of finding xenon backs will be quite slim. My need to bite the bullet and get new ones

uh oh. this makes me very unhappy.

thanks for the response though Minty.

btw - in South Africa i think i've even less chance with breakers than if i was in Europe. like hens teeth slim. or needle in a haystack. or Greece recovering in the next year.

Oh sorry I didn't see you were in South Africa, yeah you've got no chance lol sorry dude

I've asked before and was told they couldn't be bought separately. Well good news for you zedwunare. It was my previous car I needed them for!

Yes, you can get the bi-xenon headlamp rear covers a separate parts. I got a brand new one last year after I suffered a similar problem. They're not expensive...

(URLs cut)

The part numbers are as follows:-
  • Left headlamp -> 1P0941607
  • Right headlamp -> 1P0941608

HURRAH!

thank you so much! you don't know how many hours i lost trying to find these on various sites like ebay, amazon and even Valeo!

trying to find "Cupra xenon headlight back cover" is about as fruitful as trying to trace a John Smith!

Minty - no problem buddy :)
