hi when ive drove 15 mile down the motorway and then come off. as the turbo spools up it makes a really loud whistling noise like a cop car, also when i let off boost sounds like ive got a dump valve? IS MY TURBO ABOUT TO **** ITS PANTS????????
Not to panic you but a few years ago we had a 55 plate A3 with the 130 2.0 TDi and it was making a similar noise. (Lost count of the number of times I checked in the mirror for police cars or ambulances). Traded it in after a few months and it promptly blew the turbo after it was sold on. Luckily for the new owner it was under warranty. It required a lot of work as parts of the compressor were ingested into the engine.
Get it checked. It may be fine or it may be on it's last legs. Either way it'll save you money if there is a problem.
Dpf is gone and has been 2 years. Whistles all the time but u don't understand it now sounds like an ambulance as of the last week. There's sumat really wrong with it. It's like wind howling
I'd definitely be getting it checked just to be sure. It may be something as simple as a leaking boost hose. Whatever it is, a check by a trusted garage or mechanic would be the best course of action.
My mate has checked all the boost pipes etc can't find any problems. So guessing it's the turbo. Wot else can it be. I might just sell it cheap but can't even put a frigging for sale thread on!
possibly a bit off topic but when my truck made the same police car noises the turbo was on its way out dunno if its just a coincidence but for a month or so we thought we were about to be pulled over.
