OK, have a 2001 1.4 Ibiza S which has run fine over the first 2 years of ownership but now has been giving me hassle for last 6 months. Most of it wear and tear, CV joint etc.
Recently had issues with the power of the car. Started shuddering one day and felt like loss of power (possibly loss of a cylinder), but I managed to limp home and it seemed fine the following day before dying on me when revs dropped to idle after 10 minutes of driving.
At this point garage advised change of plugs and HT leads, with ECU cleared the car seemed OK for about 600 miles then seemed to lose power, especially on hills. A couple of days later seemed to resort back to 2 cylinders. Engine management light on and hills impossible!!!
Back to my main mechanic and he thought it was coil pack, so had him replace this. All seemed good until last Friday when power seemed to drop off again, seemed to get a bit worse today. No warning lights on dash.
After many hours reading the forums today now confused as to if it is EGR valve, Lamda sensor, distributor cap
Anyone any suggestions to rule out cause?
Thanks
Ian
